Christian, husband, father, bitcoiner.

Definitely have a higher variance in outcomes. I’m not sure if that is a good thing. I think what it would result in is more power in staffers and executive agencies who would provide ā€œadviceā€ to the new guy.

Great exaplanation from Spike Cohen about the Supreme Court decision that just came down.

This could have an enormous, fundamental impact on the avalanche of bureaucratic bullshit that has drowned this country over the past 40 years...

(link to Arceris's article on it for more info)

" For those who don't understand what Chevron Deference is, and why SCOTUS ended it, here's the long and short of it:

A family fishing company, Loper Bright Enterprises, was being driven out of business, because they couldn't afford the $700 per day they were being charged by the National Marine Fisheries Service to monitor their company.

The thing is, federal law doesn't authorize NMFS to charge businesses for this. They just decided to start doing it in 2013.

Why did they think they could away with just charging people without any legal authorization?

Because in 1984, in the Chevron decision, the Supreme Court decided that regulatory agencies were the "experts" in their field, and the courts should just defer to their "interpretation" of the law.

So for the past 40 years, federal agencies have been able to "interpret" laws to mean whatever they want, and the courts had to just go with it.

It was called Chevron Deference, and it put bureaucrats in charge of the country.

It's how the OHSA was able to decide that everyone who worked for a large company had to get the jab, or be fired.

No law gave them that authority, they just made it up.

It's how the ATF was able to decide a piece of plastic was a "machine gun".

It's how the NCRS was able to decide that a small puddle was a "protected wetlands".

It's how out-of-control agencies have been able to create rules out of thin air, and force you to comply, and the courts had to simply defer to them, because they were the "experts".

Imagine if your local police could just arrest you, for any reason, and no judge or jury was allowed to determine if you'd actually committed a crime or not. Just off to jail you go.

That's what Chevron Deference was.

It was not only blatantly unconstitutional, it caused immeasurable harm to everyone.

Thankfully, it's now gone.

We haven't even begun to feel the effects of this decision in the courts. It will be used, for years to come, to roll back federal agencies, and we'll all be better of for it.

And that's why politicians and corporate media are freaking out about it."

This has been a long time coming. Going to see a lot of interesting litigation over the next few years. The best part of the Trump presidency may be the judges he put in.

Will be interesting if true.

The rest of this year should be interesting.

Does any know why all the zaps I send using Damus and mutiny wallet show as unknown recipient in mutiny wallet? When I click on the friend’s view I can see those zaps correctly, so I think my nostr key is in there right.

#zap #asknostr #mutinywallet #damus

Seconded. It works really well. Having one of the devices online all the time helps keep everything in sync.

Golden rule of driving: Don’t be nice. Be predictable.

Is there a minimum stack size you see needing before moving from hardware wallet to multisig? I feel like sub one bitcoin it may not be worth it.

Are there any other URLs besides the main wallet app URL that need to be excluded from lockdown mode in IOS to make the wallet load?

Haven’t been able to make the PWA load since going into lockdown mode.

I’ve sampled all the fancy rich people stuff at this point in life and will now tell you what’s worth it and what’s not…

Fancy car - Not worth it. Save the money and get a regular car.

Really fancy car - Maybe worth it? Depends. If you’re super into cars these are pretty fun.

First class air travel - Worth it. But fair warning you can’t go back to economy once you get used to first.

Private air travel - Not worth it. Too expensive. Unless you’re some kind of huge celebrity you’ll be fine in first class.

Luxury hotel rooms - Worth it. There’s a big difference between the ritz and the best western. Enough said.

Fancy watch - Maybe worth it? Similar to the really fancy car thing. If you like it go for it, if not don’t worry you aren’t missing out on anything.

Fancy clothes - Not worth it. Rich people don’t wear this crap. Gucci, LV etc is for upper middle class people to signal to poor people.

Mansion - Worth it. Having a nice home is always nice, probably don’t go obnoxiously large though. Beyond 10k square feet you’re going to have weird maintenance and headaches taking care of the home.

Private chef - Not worth it. The food tastes good, but it’s another person in your house and that shit gets annoying.

Yacht - Maybe worth it? This goes in the same category as super cars and watches. If you’re into boats and you like spending time on the water it might be worthwhile. Otherwise just hangout by the pool, lake, ocean… same vibe but cheaper.

Maids - Worth it. Nobody wants to do their own cleaning.

Fancy food - Not worth it, caviar and foie gras will never beat burger and fries. High quality food yes, fancy rich guy food no. Maybe every once in awhile.

Fancy booze - Not worth it. Gets you drunk the same as regular booze. The richest friend I have drinks natty light. True story.

What about a personal driver?

Behold: my very own retro nostr:npub18d4r6wanxkyrdfjdrjqzj2ukua5cas669ew2g5w7lf4a8te7awzqey6lt3 viewer!

I revamped this old Hanimex film editor with an LCD screen and a Raspberry Pi.

It operates a Python script that connects to my personal mempool instance on my nostr:npub1aghreq2dpz3h3799hrawev5gf5zc2kt4ch9ykhp9utt0jd3gdu2qtlmhct node.

Icing on the cake: it can even monitor transactions!

I created a custom Telegram bot to monitor transactions. By using the command /tx , I can check the status of a specific transaction.

If I use the command /reset, the mempool viewer resets itself.

Components:

- Hanimex E300 (case)

- Raspberry Pi 3b (any model will suffice)

- LCD screen (7.0 Inch CLAA070MA0ACW 800X600)

Some handiwork is required to fit it (Dremel recommended).

Nice!

It does have inflation. The block reward is inflation. It’s just predictable and scheduled inflation.

I’ll agree that there are some costs that aren’t always clear with opening the channels. Hopefully these wallets will continue to improve that experience. Federations and ecash might help as well if the user is ok with the trade offs in custody. But I guess that feeds into your argument that they are too complicated if you are having to understand that.

I think there’s a difference between running LND and running something like Mutiny Wallet. I don’t think the average user should be running LND. But something like Zeus or Mutiny for everyone is awesome. My understanding is that both Zeus and Mutiny run a node in their wallet software.

Meshtastic is the missing peace, a free open source mesh LORA network with open source hardware. Cheap too, I bet most of us have hardware that could already run it. The HAM radio/off grid communities have really been pushing the development this year.
