Mentally recalculating McDs as "literally more than twice as expensive is a doozy, sure but what I really wanna know: did they do any shrinkflation on top of that to really wring out the margin? I don’t know any specifics but I suspect the “quality” of their “food” is significantly poorer than it used to be.
Oh man, that's insightful. I overlooked entirely the possibility that they could keep a patty the same size and weight, but change the gruelpaste/additive/filler ratios on anything not advertising-locked as "100% real beef" or whatever. Hell, even the definition of "beef" these days may have loopholes.
I believe their Patty's are all 100% beef? Or am I mistaken? I've heard their chicken is also of highest quality. A friend of mine did a Consulting job at the chicken provider for mcd in my country and said mcd gets too quality batch first, then the big supermarkets get whatever is left.
From what I understand the McDonald’s menu varies by country. I would not be surprised if you are outside of the USA and getting better quality meats than us.

It was a long time ago, but when I lived in JP, the McD's were always top shelf compared to the standard suburban ones back home. And they had a local specialty — Shaka Shaka Chicken — that was great

Wouldn’t be surprised. Other cost saving measures I’ve seen at all our local McDonald’s:
- cash registers not manned and ordering kiosks are the preferred way to order now
- no more drink machines in dining area, so you have to ask for refills at the counter (which is sparsely staff due to the ordering kiosks)
- no condiments or napkins available in dining area, so you have to ask for them at the counter.

I know that Argentinians generally prefer USD but they'd also be acutely aware of the problems with fiat currencies. Just looking for a pulse check (your feeling) among your family & friends).
Unfortunately nobody around me likes #bitcoin (family, friends) they think #btc is too volatile and they don’t have money to risk, they prefer to buy dollars as a store of value, put their Argentine pesos in a fixed-term deposit (around 295% APY), or buy durable goods, as a way to lose less. I know people who works for others countries that prefer stablecoins (usdt, dai, usdc)
The interest will come in time & I'm sure that they will know where to go when they need their questions answered.
I sometimes position bitcoin as a 4 year fixed term deposit with variable exit fees & huge interest potential. I'm not sure how successful it is 😆

I eat out a lot and the shrinkflation I have been seeing, in all restaurants since covid hit, is simply redonkulous. It's the most constant topic of conversation at our mealtimes, which items we discover that very day that have fewer items or smaller portions for the same price. It's absolutely constant now.
I haven't touched a big mac in years, but if they are even 50% of the size that they used to be I can guarantee you that most of their weight is strictly cheap additives somehow. Probably cancer-causing additives, too. They just stopped caring last year.
