People like nice things, not dumb things.
Can I give you some home work? Your first step is the figure out which relays you would like to store your content. There are many options and the most important part is to know who the operator is and trust that person. Nos.lol and nostr.mom are run by nostr:nprofile1qqsflmrj64um42nh9tu7w8nr3dffy9tjrt8xururype9ajle7alctvgppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qyg8wumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnddakj7qg4waehxw309ahx7um5wghx77r5wghxgetk9uukdx2g. Nostr.band is run by nostr:nprofile1qqs99d9qw67th0wr5xh05de4s9k0wjvnkxudkgptq8yg83vtulad30gpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7zx57ul. Nostr.wine by nostr:nprofile1qqsrmpp2lmx4u2fl9zmxy7fnwp9rlwxwz5a2j8tep2c376n494z2gtgpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7qgcwaehxw309anxjmr5v4ezumn0wd68ytnhd9hx2tcprpmhxue69uhkxun9v968ytnwdaehgu3wwa5kuef09lplkt. Nostr.band by nostr:nprofile1qqsrx4k7vxeev3unrn5ty9qt9w4cxlsgzrqw752mh6fduqjgqs9chhgpzamhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgtcpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduhszyrhwden5te0dehhxarj9ekk7mf0mpwca6, etc. You can also put your own relay up with nostr1.com from nostr:nprofile1qqs8eseg5zxak2hal8umuaa7laxgxjyll9uhyxp86c522shn9gj8crspz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7qgjwaehxw309ahx7um5wgerztnrdakj7qgkwaehxw309a3x2an09ehx7um5wgcjucm0d5hsvlnggv. Lots of options but the more you know the better it gets.
Yep, but if you don't know which relays are doing that, you are just feeding the same algorithms and sales platforms of big tech. Hopefully we can make people aware and empower them to pick and easily move between relays.
Do you need help choosing relays? I saw your lists are a little empty :)

#Amethyst #Release
Faz sentido! Vou fazer
Yep, Amethyst/ version
It's more to give people some perspective of what each relay has so that they can better choose their own relays.

Topical Relay Explorers 🧭
Yeah, his day will come
I want to kill the Global feed and make feeds per relay so people can see what each relay has. Maybe a relay exploration feed in the 4th nav button at the bottom could be our starting point.
Frankly, I didn't even participate much. Lots of uses were replying to each other and their answers were great.
nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z serious question.
in the outbox model, do I miss more information about whats happening arround me because npub A (whom i follow) is trying to send information to npub B specific inbox relays that i dont have?
or maybe i dont have the right understanding of how this works.
We have largely two issues right now:
1. Users that are not using an outbox client and they client just posts to places that have nothing to do with their lists (or they don't even have a list)
2. Some of the relay slowdown via Tor is failing to arrive as fast as I would like. So, I am evaluating some strategies to use Tor better for this.
No, we will fix it.
With current resources? Not really. I wish we could move faster, but it is what it is
Can you send one you like? I thought it was a cute one... Amy-style :)
It's funny to see how non-Amethyst users react to our "complicated" relay settings. They think users are stupid and can't figure it out.
We are now a few days in and I am very proud of how our actual users reacted to it. Our UI being quite rudimentary for relay selections but that didn't scare anyone. People asked questions, changed things, and generally kept going.
There was a chance Amethyst Outbox would crash and burn. But it didn't. People are not stupid. You give them the tools, they will figure it out.
Empowering users is a hard thing to do. But it is way better than letting an app hide things from them so much that they don't even know where their content is.
As we move forward, those tools will get better and better.
nostr:nprofile1qqsyvrp9u6p0mfur9dfdru3d853tx9mdjuhkphxuxgfwmryja7zsvhqpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7qgswaehxw309ahx7um5wghx6mmd9uq3wamnwvaz7tmkd96x7u3wdehhxarjxyhxxmmd9ukfdvuv does Amethyst prioritize network for media? Like I never auto play LR download media but when I do it hangs a lot. Is there a way to prioritize that one connection over all others?
The first start takes a few Ms or so. But after the first video is loaded the app can load all the other videos quite fast, no?
I could live alongside. Not everybody wants to chat with their neighbors. Many people just want a topical chat, regardless of where people are. Those are two different things IMO.
As of 1.01 all new Amethyst posts inside the Community only show to followers of that community and not to their author's followers in the general feed.
Obrigado pelo feedback
If the browser doesn't work, there is something off on your setup. Are you on stock Android or graphene? Any firewalls?
Outbox is where you events are for others to download.
Inbox are the relays people will you to send you replies, zaps, etc.
I recommend 3 relays for redundancy. nos.lol, nostr.mom and relay.damus.io are good ones
Nice, those are the same I see here now
Have you tried clearing the cache on the phone settings/apps/amethyst and clear cache?
Do you have Tor active for images by any chance?
Hum... That sucks, you have 7-8 relays there on your lists
You can just paste your npub from your profile on Amethyst
You can't anymore. If users don't want to tell you where to find their posts, you will to connect with every relay on earth to find it. Which is hard/impossible.
Add 3 inbox and 3 outbox relays that have your data. The app doesn't know where your notifications are.
What happened? It should work. But the OTS takes a while to be added to the chain.
Replies. Each level of the reply might have a different author and that means the app connects to the inbox of that author to see if there are new replies, likes, zaps, etc that are coming from other people.
Current Google and Samsung phones let you connect to 32,768 relays... Just saying...
nostr:nprofile1qqsyvrp9u6p0mfur9dfdru3d853tx9mdjuhkphxuxgfwmryja7zsvhqpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7qgswaehxw309ahx7um5wghx6mmd9uq3wamnwvaz7tmkd96x7u3wdehhxarjxyhxxmmd9ukfdvuv where are the images loaded from? Probably not the regular relays from the relay list anymore (as it doesn't exist anymore)
Outbox of each user. But I am wondering if they are still there being loaded.
As a user, I don't want to see messages from brand new Nostr accounts. I want to see messages from people that have had Nostr for a while or that I have chatted before, regardless if I am following them directly or not.
Each spammer can easily connect to all relays around the globe at the same time and can reply as if they were a local person. Bitchat Bluetooth requires presence, the public ephemeral chat doesn't.
You will have to figure out which users are real and which ones are not without having to make them pay for it. Because otherwise, US spammers can pay much more than Indonesian users. Spammers will always win.
WoT is built over time and because it is based on my follows, my follows' follow and follows follow' follows, it's extremely hard for spammers to get in. These were users I built a relationship with even though I don't follow them directly. They spent time to gather my likes, reactions, replies.
That's the real proof of work. Money cannot just buy it. Spammers can make a billion users and make them reply to each other as many times as they want, my WoT is still unaffected. They don't have a way to get in.
Just for new users, right? I think the invoice works great for current members. At least that is how I keep paying you.
Up to you man.. I made this thing just for you guys to get paid because I know how hard it is to collect and how much friction exist in your systems today. The goal was to make something so simple that any client can implement in one night and users just need to 1-click pay.
You might want to talk to the nostr.land folks because I don't know what their different addresses do, but it feels weird to have hist, aggr and nostr.land in public outbox and inbox.
On the outbox: If they are coming from the same pool of nothes, each of your follows is connecting to the 3 relays and getting duplicate data all the time.
On the inbox: If all of them send data to the same pool, then only one is needed to receive posts citing you form your follows.
Filter.nostr.wine is not an inbox relay. The rest seems fine.
I would add another DM inbox relay to avoid relying on just one.
If you are using Amethyst, you will need to setup your preferred Indexer relays. Click the Default button if you don't have an opinion about it and just want something that works.
No i'm not but I will send you this.

Yeah, that's what we have and what I tried... I will try again
It's a little worse, but not by much. The data that used to come from a single relay doesn't come anymore and instead that same data is split per author and each split comes for a separate relay.
Interoperable with bitchat and coolr?
I don't doubt the translation is good. Many of these services offer amazing translations. Even Google themselves do. The question is always on the price and privacy of the request. After all, it's uncommon to see details on nostr that need to be protected
