Anytime you find yourself arguing about something gender-related, for or against, stop and think about how few times this has actually happened in real life. This has become a big national political issue, but what percentage of your monthly interactions in the past year have included pronoun or similar disagreements between yourself and someone else *in person*?

Somehow, I have reached age 36 and this has not once been an issue in real life. Has it ever been an issue in your life? Unless you live in like one of four cities in the world or have the unfortunate role of being a liberal arts college professor, probably not. Let them deal with it.

Social polarization is a method of control by those with the money, so that you focus on something other than the money. They create theoretical problems to distract you from something more important.

For this decade in particular, it is important to focus on the money. Show empathy and tolerance and love and acceptance toward all, and really just be based, but focus on the money. Because that is what they are trying to distract you from, like a magician.

You are doing exactly what I said at the start. Covid having originated from a wet market is boring, and random, and unsatisfying. The cooler narrative is that it was smuggled out of a lab. That makes a good movie.

Look, I'm not rejecting the theory, I'm just dismissing it until there is some concrete evidence, and people who actually spent their life studying this stuff done it convincing.

A lot of conspiracy theories start out as questions like this, without any intention to actually look for evidence, or ever be convinced that whatever outlandish idea presented is wrong. But I realize I was picking on you even though you were probably asking honestly. My immune system overreacting maybe. Still, if you really want an answer you will have to start by actually evaluating the "popular narrative". You can't just say "IMO" because of some intuition you have and be satisfied with that. The narrative is popular for a reason. If it was false you would probably hear at least some reputable voices speaking against it, offering contradictory evidence. I haven't come across any. No one seems to dispute what I said before other than "raising questions", which is the laziest thing in the world.

When the truth is boring, complicated, and disappointed, people look for other narratives. This is a classic example of that. The by-far most likely explanation is a series of small mistakes of the IDF (allowing "civilian" activity on the border, not reinstalling balloon-floating cameras, diverting attention to the West Bank, etc), together with excellent preparation by Hamas (Iranian help, only letting the lower ranks know the plan hours before the attack, etc).

But wouldn't it be so cool if there was this conspiracy that involved hundreds of people being ok with their own people dying, when none of these people ever showed a sign that they think that is morally justified? Let's work real hard to convince ourselves that is what happened, regardless of any evidence that we are too lazy to look into.

My husband is currently in Cairo dealing with some property work we are doing for our extended family. They are only 250 miles from the problem, and Egypt’s acute currency crisis brings it closer to home if military or refugee shit hits the fan. Most of my extended family is geopolitically or financially close to the Israel/Gaza issue and is Muslim. I am thus both close and far from the issue. And I grew up in the US in a diverse region with Jewish and Muslim peers, but more-so Jewish overall.

Suffice to say, I don’t want civilians on either side to suffer or die. I am pro-humanity first and foremost.

Good morning, all. Here's a thought on heading towards a more balanced society through Nostr. The topical relay conversations reminded me of this.

Society is divided. Everything is centralised and restricted by whichever gov’t who sits on the throne. People no longer know how to speak to each other if their opinions differ. Families are divided over beliefs.

When it comes to Nostr, perhaps the goal is to embrace the differences yet enable an open field for everyone to come together. People can go back to their comfort zone anytime through relays.

Conceptually, you can have relays A B C (refer to diagram) and more.

Say A is liberal, B is conservative, C is neutral.

Each can view others if they want to. They can remain within their vicinity. It’s their choice.

Being able to view other opinions helps one come out of the one-sided bubble. It challenges one to widen perspective without getting defensive. Understanding someone else creates compassion and empathy. And it brings people together. And i think that is what's missing in the world today.
