All views are my own. Tech finance manager, Bitcoin believer.

Haha, I feel like we are genuinely 1-2 more public incidents from this or people actively avoiding newer Boeing planes becoming reality. It’s nuts.

With Casa and Unchained multisig both at $250 a year, does Liana wallet start to get broader adoption? Definitely requires more tech savvy and patience with a more challenging UX, but you get amazing miniscript capability for starting at $5 a month for backups and can add onboarding and support calls on top of that as needed. All in potentially cheaper and much higher potential capability against tougher UX. Hopefully a lot more advanced Bitcoiners eventually go the Liana/Anchorwatch/miniscript route, but definitely not noob friendly yet.

All lightning wallets are ultimately hot wallets. In my humble opinion, you should only have in any hot wallet money you are willing to lose. So no if you need something that is highly secure for 5 years+, I would say it is not safe enough. There is a lot of nuance and degrees of safety, but to just simplify it hot wallets should be money you are willing to lose.

Phoenix is amazing so most likely nothing will happen, but any lightning wallet has risks. They are often hard to understand, predict, and quantify.

Not sure I fully understand your question, but both Umbrel and Start9 have a Nostr app that can backup your content. Pretty easy though normies likely will need a walkthrough to get comfortable, but it’s fairly plug and play.

For me, that really only happens when I feel unprepared or I am procrastinating something I know is important. I get over it by preparing and stopping the procrastination phase.

Bye @Ledger. Hello nostr:npub1tg779rlap8t4qm8lpgn89k7mr7pkxpaulupp0nq5faywr8h28llsj3cxmt. bitcoin way.. the only way...

- Software 100% open source.

- Firmware 100% open source.

- Sparrow Wallet 100% open source.

- Connected to a private node via TOR.

- Running on a dedicated machine.

And also supports miniscript. I’m here to be your miniscript maxi.

Just to me “prepper” means irrational stockpiling of stuff to appease fear. Being prepared is a practical approach to keeping your family safe. I store supplies equivalent to a 3-4 week camping trip. Maybe it helps in a natural disaster or maybe we just enjoy ourselves at a new national park. Sounds arbitrary, I know. But in my head it feels like there’s a mindset difference.

Good morning Nostr. We are winning. Be kind and gracious in our inevitable victory.

But the applause of the present you have from me sir 🙏🏻

nostr:npub17u5dneh8qjp43ecfxr6u5e9sjamsmxyuekrg2nlxrrk6nj9rsyrqywt4tp whats the best way to setup a self-hosted cloud storage for my family? I was thinking Nextcloud but now the question is what the best device out there to run Nextcloud on? Also

Read good things about SeaFile.

My family needs 4-5 TB and hopefully it'd be something secure, encrypted and FOSS.

But curious to know what's your advice here. Appreciate your time 🙏🏽

4-5 TB is tough. For less I’ve run nextcloud on Umbrel and Start9 and it’s pretty easy. I assume for that large of storage you almost need a NAS of some sort right?

The new weight loss drugs only seem to have life extending benefits if you have extremely severe chronic disease, here is an NIH study - you can see it only helps somewhat if you both have the highest cardiovascular risk AND diabetes. The average person with likely mild chronic conditions taking these insanely expensive drugs scares me. When did we lose focus on healthy diet and exercise? That should always be the key option we push, at least until you have very severe health conditions and there is likely no other choice imho.

It’s a fair general point that it’s hard and they don’t have a ton of options. If they have a 401k they can rollover to an IRA, or take an existing IRA, and open an Unchained IRA. That’s the best option that I’ve seen.

If you know anyone with a large ETF position you should try to get them to explore self custody alternatives. It’s never been easier and we’ve never had more options. For a small amount a bitkey is so clean and easy. For a medium amount an Unchained or Casa vault using coldcard cannot be beat. For a whale they should look into Anchorwatch - get insurance to appeal to normies. All of these options have a safety net where others can help you in case you mess up. We’ve come so far. We are winning!!

Coldcard is clearly the best hardware wallet. If you rug yourself by doing something that is explicitly warned against in the documentation, I don’t think it’s fair to blame them. If you’re a noob just let the device generate your wallet/seed phrase.

Happy to pay for nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955 and nostr:npub1mutnyacc9uc4t5mmxvpprwsauj5p2qxq95v4a9j0jxl8wnkfvuyque23vg subscriptions. People should be willing to pay FOSS developers if they expect to use open source. People gotta eat.

I still think you look silly. Maybe because most people I know have long hair so you can’t see the AirPods. Looks like you’re just talking to yourself.

Primal wallet is a custodial wallet is run by Strike. So nothing is really “moving”. Just an internal entry at Strike. I like Strike, not knocking them. Just important people understand the mechanics so they can decide on the trade offs and what works for them. I would personally only put a very small number of sats in a custodial wallet for zapping.

Regardless of political party we should not have politicians over 80 years old. It’s just a shitshow. They get giant lifelong pensions and healthcare at taxpayer expense, just retire already.

There’s a whole consultant class of grifters who make try to make authoritative and aggressive statements on every topic like they know it all. I believe it was on this podcast where he talked about why he opposed nuclear power and why wind was the best power source. His answer showed a lack of understanding even high school level science.

Dictatorships almost always eventually end badly, the timeline it very hard to predict, but the outcome is certain

Totally agree it will eventually be Bitcoin. But I’m guessing the first 1-3 iterations will be some dumb fiat or shitcoin bullshit.

They’ll eventually get to Bitcoin but I doubt as soon as some Maxis think.

Maybe I’ll be proven wrong. 🤷

Perhaps the hardest pill of my entire adult life to swallow was that many people I loved wanted me to fail or at least not surpass them. They’d advise me to not take even sensible calculated risks, and if I did and it worked they would get enraged and attribute any success to luck. Your success and hard work holds a mirror to those who laze through life without bravery or perseverance. Persevere anyway! You will eventually attract the right kind of people. nostr:note1zuj2x4apt2qaqlepj2pphvvvusmns5ys85kyrd6d6qn5zjwqxrjsgepnwq
