Salt, not just sodium but potassium and magnesium for future prevention. For now, consciously flex the cramped muscle as hard as you can, then relax it into a stretch as you draw the opposite muscle into a hard flex. Repeat a few times. This will hurt, a lot. It will get the muscle back under control of your brain though.
Allright this sounds like good advice. Going to try it now π«π
Do you know a food containing magnesium?
π For potassium?
Magnesium -> Dark chocolate, nuts, dairy, greens (spinach, etc)
Sounds like a good excuse to buy some chocolate tomorrow. Though I don't think my diet is usually lacking. Maybe a bit these weeks on holidays π€
I snack daily on dark chocolate and nuts, plus greens every day with at least 1 meal. Lots of different seafood is a source as well, I usually have some fish or at least oysters or mussels daily as well.
Hmm interesting, do you eat red meat ever?
I eat a ton of chocolate already, my neighbor keep bringing it and I cant say no to her π But I eat mainly steak and boiled eggs, both with lot of salt. Also 27 and fit as a fiddle π
Yes, I eat meat quite often, close to daily, love eggs too. Some spinach with scrambled eggs is a delicious breakfast.
The kind of chocolate is important. A good dark, 85-90% is best, but many don't like the taste. I find it goes well with black coffee π
I'm 45, and in ok shape, 6'3", 180lbs. I used to be much heavier, until I started eating healthy, and stopped alcohol.
Ah yes so quite similar diet then. I usually eat the milk-seasalt chocolat but that real dark+bacl coffee sounds good. Will def try it when I get home βΊοΈ
I have used this site/app in the past to track micronutrient intake. It is not an exact science obviously, but I found it a great help in getting my diet to π―
That doesn't add enough at all. Get a supplement and don't worry, you can't really overdose on mag, you'll shit yourself ππ€ That advice on stretching muscles against pain as hard as you can is very dangerous - ok if you're 25 and fit. You might pull the muscle big time, especially if it's lower back.
To each their own. I get along just fine without supplements, eating food I cook myself. If your diet is lacking, it is an option I guess.
Haha I'd rather not shit myself bro π and good thing I'm just past 25 and fitt as hell π but thanks for the warnings!!
To clarify, I meant flex the opposing muscle hard, not stretch hard. They are different things.
Are you a high salt sweater? If you are, you are active, and no blood pressure issues, you should ignore the salt intake guidelines and go far higher.
π― on salt! Once I started cooking my own food I realized how much salt I need. I would often feel a bit dizzy, and get a head rush while standing quickly. Now I know if I feel that way, I just need to suck on some rock salt.
Uh so to clarify: my cramped muscle is a long verticle one on the left side. Are you saying flex the one on the right or flex chest/stomach? π€
Stomach, rolling forward like a crunch if it is the one I'm thinking of.
Bicep / triceps is an easy model. For one to flex the other must relax. This is a round about way of sending that relax signal since the normal methods aren't working.
Heat helps a lot. Get an electric heating pad and sit or lay on it as much as you can over the next few days is the best way IMO. Standing under a hot shower is also helpful. Once you get it a bit loose, a massage is good too. Some CBD cream can also provide some temporary relief.
Good luck mate!
Ok thanks will do what I can. Currently on holiday hopping b&b's but will ask them is they have some heating pad tomorrow! Hot showers and stretching I can do for sure! Thanks π«π
If you can't find an electric one or dont want to be tethered to a plug since youre on holiday, the next best thing are those stick on patches. Salonpas makes a heat sticky pad thing that is really strong. I'd imagine most pharmacies around the world will carry something of the sort.
Ah yes good call, that's prob an easier solution anyway. Will go by a pharmacy tomorrow and give them a google translate ππ€
nostr:npub17plqkxhsv66g8quxxc9p5t9mxazzn20m426exqnl8lxnh5a4cdns7jezx0 warm Weather TigerBalsem. And a massage from a nice girl ππ« brother. It work with my Hernia π
Warm weather I have already, 38 CΒ° here. Can you send a nice girl over? ππ€ππ«
Warm it up. No sudden moves, it may get worse, like you "scare" it and a chain reaction will start. After warming, find a corner of wall and lean on that muscle. Scrub it from spine away like a bear a tree. Or just lean on it. Don't hurry. Then get someone to rub some pain cream or at least some alcohol into it. Point is the muscle is shortened, might pull your spine or cause reaction in other muscles. You need to relax it. Warmth helps.
After you feel it has slightly loosened and relaxed, like after hour, try to stretch it SLOWLY. Again, don't scare it. And go back very slowly, lean with your hands on something so it doesn't panicking and shorten again. Sleep with back in warm and avoid sudden moves. Don't go into a hot tub, you might not get out.π Sincerely, a masseuse. Oh yeah finding one helps.
Thai massage πΆ
Force those muscles loose. Drink lots of water. It's hurt.
