Handyman engineer. I bounce from project to project. I'm often called in to do the finishing touches, bringing 90% complete projects over the finish line. I'm good at making disparate systems talk to each other. * Zaps powered by nostr:nprofile1qqsf07zg4hxyccnkdp07fppxmetpfzru3fg6mgzx3nk8r7af8qnjjyg76vulm * On-chain powered by nostr:nprofile1qqsvxq03xdev3uxehjqcdkr5lfzl5vawmcf7vm6ps73m6ghwg8y4k2shaefxp *Always Buy the Dip* #privacy #security #linux #Android #networkengineer #infosec #SimpleX #dogs #cats #pets #cooking

Ya, with NWC you just tap the zap and it's done. No need to exit the client and open the wallet. NWC is the most efficient zap mechanism.

These are more expensive organic eggs. How much are the regular, USDA Grade A Large eggs?

The concept of nonexistence is very difficult for the human mind to grasp. But I think it's not so much the nonexistence part, but the transition from our animated, thinking selves to the state of nonexistence that causes us so much trouble. I'm not afraid of not existing, because I won't exist. I will have no awareness. There will be no I. But the thought of leaving my life, my experience, and all the people I love is terrifying. It's that terrible process that keeps me awake at night.

GM frens! 🤠

WTF?? I hope you blocked and reported the shit out that horror. I'm fortunate to have never come across that shit, but I firmly believe it should blocked and reported so relay operators can take action to ban that npub from their server. I'll never understand the truly sick people who spread that shit.

I use the best tool for the job based on my needs for any given transaction. If want to cloak my transaction and my identity as much as possible, I use Monero. If I don't care about ironclad privacy and need to transfer a large amount, I use on-chain BTC. For day to day transactions that don't have a high privacy requirement, I use Lightning. I think they all have their uses, it just depends on your specific requirements which one is best suited.

I love sourdough! I've never had it as a croissant, but I bet they're amazing! I'm such a crackwhore for homemade baked goods! 🥐🧈💕

Does Bullish Nuts provide a lightning address and NWC compatibility? I know those features were missing last time is tested it a few months ago. I would you love to use it with Nostr but those two features are must-have to set it up as the primary wallet. An LN address to receive, and NWC to facilitate sending from my within the client. Otherwise, it's a very cool wallet for sending and receiving ecash, and the send to npub feature is also really nice.

One of the most disgraceful chapters in American history.

I run a wallet in Cake. It's not my primary wallet, but I still use it. From a usability standpoint, Cake is really nice. It's well designed, and simple. I haven't tried creating a multi-sig wallet with it, but it looks like it has the capability. The Silent Payment feature is really nice, and they're one of the only wallets that supports that. Plus, it's cool to have your XMR and BTC wallets all under one roof. It's definitely one of the wallets I'd recommend to new bitcoiners.

Whether you pay 2-3% to Cash App, or to Robosats, it's basically the same thing in terms of expense. The real difference is that Cash App is instantaneous, but requires KYC, while Robosats might take a day or two, but no KYC is required. So it really comes down to how quickly you need those sats, and whether you're concerned about KYC.

It's basically Sig's version of the the 556 rifle in a pistol frame.

I think they're like $30k. Definitely not cheap. And even if they legalized full auto weapons, I have to image that there would still be the FFL application process. And those fees are really high, too. It wouldn't surprise me if it cost $50k when all was said and done. Maybe even more. I think I'd rather go to one of those places in Vegas where you can rent one to shoot at the range, and take the money I save and buy more Bitcoin. As cool as it is, I would feel bad knowing I spent all that money on a gun that just sits on the shelf most of the time. I got a Sig Sauer P556 SWAT for about $2000 that I like to shoot once or twice a month. And it's an incredible personal defense weapon. That satisfies my desire to shoot and protect my home.

It looks good. It'll be cool to see it fill up with different apps. Good on Coinos for being an early adopter!

I think it's a good idea to nostr web apps in one directory. I was just confused about what was actually being offered, as well what it was that developers are signing since these are web apps (links).

Yeah, the PWA (Progressive Web App). So, what is it that they're signing? Wouldn't the app just be a link to coinos.io?

Did somebody say Zapathon...?

Zap Zap Zap ⚡

The obsession, and repression of sexuality by religious people, especially Christians, is really fuckin weird. And it's definitely not healthy as the consequences of that obsession shows. I don't I'll ever really understand the self-imposed sexual prison these people confine themselves to. It all seems very masochistic and unproductive.

I believe these built-in wallets are custodial. You don't get a seed phrase to restore your wallet elsewhere. I think individual, built-in wallets should be an option, but not the only way. Freedom is about giving people options wherever possible so they can choose for themselves. Personally, I just don't like the idea of having to manage a bunch of integrated wallets. I'd rather have the ability to use my chosen wallet with every client.

Why do you care if people use custodial wallets for zaps? Also, most lightning wallets in use are custodial. There are some with integrated nodes (like Breez, Phoenix, Blixt, and Zeus) that are non-custodial, but most are custodial. I wouldn't hold a significant sum in a custodial wallet, but for zapping they're just fine.

What? You don't need to run a node to use NWC. Many custodial wallets support it. Minibits, Cashu, LifPay, and Coinos all support NWC.

But why are a dozen seperate integrated wallets better than one wallet that connects to every app via NWC? The latter seems like a much better option from a management standpoint. I'd rather have one central wallet than a bunch of integrated wallets with individual balances I need to manage. Am I missing something?

Hmmm.... That doesn't sound like a wise practice. I'd always want to keep my private key secured on my local machine. I think I'd just set my ssh agent to submit the key passphrase automatically.

I thought of that, but it doesn't make sense to me. Considering that this compression effect is happening starting with our earliest memories, and continuing for as long as we currently know, it doesn't seem right that it would cease at some arbitrary point. Because this compression is, I believe, a result of our lengthening experience. The longer we live, the faster time feels. So, if our experience continued through infinity, I think it stands to reason that this compressing of time from our vantage point would also continue. Do you have any ideas on what might cause this hypothetical switch to flip, freezing, or even regressing our perception of time?

Only the public key is stored on GitHub servers. You always keep your private key locally. To protect your account in the event that your local machine is compromised, you can opt to require a passphrase for every authentication. Or for convenience, you can set your ssh agent to retain your passphrase for easy authentication.

Immortality — The Time Compression Problem

Sci-fi books and movies often explore the topic of immortality, and modern medicine is constantly extending the human lifespan. But what would immortality be like? The problem I keep running into as I ponder this, and other related ideas, is what I call the Time Compression Problem.

We've all experienced it. When we were children, Summer used to last forever. 20min in the doctor's waiting room felt like an eternity. Time seemed to move very slowly. But as we get older, our perception of time changes. It speeds up. And it continues accelerating the older we get. I'm in my 40s and months already feel like weeks to me. I can only imagine what time must feel like to people in their 60s and beyond.

In considering immortality, this compression in our perception of time must surely become intolerable as we reach 150, continuing on to our 2nd century. What must that be like to the person living it? At some point, a year is going to feel like a day. And this time compression is only going to continue as infinite years roll by.

I don't think our human minds could handle it. While we may live forever, the realities of time compression could render our minds broken and useless as we exceed the limits of our evolved brains. And how would that manifest? Madness? Breakdown? Perhaps some other debilitation?

At this point, it's just a thought exercise, or something to think about on the afternoon train. But as we live longer, as our technology, and our mastery of the world increase, the reality of time compression in the human mind will become a real issue that scientists and doctors need to aim their talents at. Because keeping the body going may be the easy part. Maintaining the integrity, and healthy functioning of our minds may be quite difficult, and certainly something to think about if you're writing the next best-selling sci-fi novel! #blog

Pretty much all the relays I've used with it have worked fine and I haven't experienced any downtime or service interruption. If you're running a basic free relay, it works. I use nsec.app, damus.io, and purplerelay.com and it works just fine.

Who's making apps for Linux Phone? Is it compatible with Android apps, or is a whole new ecosystem required?

Right. When you add a relay to Amber, it tests those conditions, and if they're met it adds that relay to its list for user. There's no assumption that the relays are free. It specifically tests to ensure that they're free. No assumptions involved.

Yeah, but that's a completely irrelevant comparison. It only serves to minimize the deaths of those 6 people, and the significance of those people who died as a result of their transactions on SR. It's more of the waving off of any wrongdoing attributed to Ross as part of the lionization. It has nothing to do with the faults of the medical insurance industry.
