GM, GN, and GFY.

I definitely fucked us with this. 98k tonight

Amethyst is incredible. It has issues like any other software, but I like the general philosophy and direction more than anything else I've used so far.

I wonder what the difference is because I have my browser set to block fingerprinting and use a VPN. I wonder if it's because I don't use my own VPS for VPN

We will never go below $100k #Bitcoin again.

Many of us aren't on X anymore, so I'll take one for the team and be that guy here on #Nostr. You're welcome.

Well, you may be doing something even more paranoid than me, but still 😂 On principle, my friend. 🫡

Ah for fuck sake dude. I'll delete my Premium then because I know it's coming for me too.

Nice meme

And there are multiple perspectives to consider. Nontechnical user, relay operator/manager, relay developer. Possibly others I don't know. All of whom may use similar language to describe different concepts. Just wanted to clarify that's what I mean when I reference difficulty in asking relay related questions.

That's perfectly fine. I generally like starting with those resources anyway. Usually saves time if I'm not looking to jump into the deep end for information found in the shallow end.

I think it's worthwhile having even basic level config resources for new users. As an example, someone who installs Amethyst and finds that relays need to be configured. Then what? I haven't had much interest in relays until recently. But I'm coming from a user perspective at the moment rather than a developer one. The similar language between the two makes it challenging to ask these sorts of questions.

I'm kind of used to git repos, but I can appreciate both! Thanks for the work.

I'm unsure how to answer this. I have a BS in computer science, so I can read detailed technical sources and put them to use, if that's what you mean. Otherwise, I've used Amethyst as a daily driver for some years. Im interested in learning more about relay selection/setups from a user perspective. I'm quite ignorant in that regard (the different relay types, what they do, and how to select the best ones for my needs, etc), if that's what you're asking.

Strike lets you refinance the minimum principle if you pay the interest off up to that point. At least they say they will. The risk is if that isn't true for some reason and you're forced to sell, which is why I wouldn't do this for a large percentage of sats.

As for zero collateral, every auto loan I know of in the US uses at least the vehicle as collateral. They hold the title. And you have to have fiat income to satisfy them and pay monthly on loan and interest. Strike allows payment at maturity or refinancing (again, they say, with risks of that not being true at some point).

I don't know of any bank in the US that just hands out 30-50k on a promise. Maybe a business loan, but not for consumer purchases that I know of outside of credit cards with much higher than 13% interest these days.

It's kind of funny that the government shutdown is preventing some producers from offering actually helpful services. They still manage to get in the way even when 'shut down.'

It's also funny that anything that involves paying the government is still up and running.

What the fuck are we paying for if it's really shut down?

It isn't shut down. The worst parts are still going, and the parts that aren't somehow hurt Americans more. We hurt when they run. We hurt more when they 'shut down.' They should just close permanently and leave us the fuck alone.

American producers and free markets would turn the country around quickly if left alone.

Sure, but it'll take a while. It's not like some asshole on MSM saying turn down the temperature after years of cranking it up is going to magically work. We will unfortunately have to suffer probably for years more. It won't stop until we fix our culture. It's so broken that it'll probably take decades if we start today. My point is that we can't avoid the consequences just because we're getting a little uncomfortable now. I agree that we should start today though.

Choose your note adventure?

You see a path leading into the Dark Forest and another leading to a beautiful castle at the top of a hill, which do you take?

Good attempts have been made but it's quite difficult, especially considering what most people expect now. New phone releases simply won't live up to those made by producers with a lot more experience, resources, and IP.

The best concept I can imagine is a custom GNU/Linux OS with an Android compatibility layer. But even that won't be as smooth as what many demand. That's the only way I see to make a phone without being beholden to Apple and Google decisions. Purism had a good concept but it ended up being a disaster. Pine64 has a developer phone but the hardware has low specs (meant for devs).

I always buy direct for this reason. I once had an issue with a phone that was apparently carrier unlocked but still locked in the bootloader sense. That was an early Pixel, but I still just buy direct now anyway.

I wish everyone would just verify their Trezor and/or Ledger recovery phrase so we can move on.

Sure, but almost none of their users are like us. I get you, but it's all moot now anyway. They're so legacy

Never seen that before. They actually may be right, but it's all archaic anyway. Funny enough I saw a notification email saying some fiat was withdrawn from my account. I had half a moment of panic before chuckling. I'm almost 100% in self-custody Bitcoin. I'm good. Turned out it was a large withdrawal for a Bitcoin conversion I made the other day. 😂 It was a beautiful moment.

Interestingly, my banking app works fine. No Google services either. Granted, that could change. And I barely keep funds in it anymore anyway. Besides, you can use a browser minus check deposit.

Bitchat got the bull juices flowing for real.

Still, my point would be the same. People pretend like life was a fairytale when the reality is that far more people suffered many more horrors than now. Natural and unnatural. People lose sight of the progress that has been made because of the bad that still exists.
