Thank you for providing this. Sorry for a late reply, but after looking it seems this directly targets inscriptions and ordinals. ie. this is a cat and mouse game. We can do that and break ordinals and inscriptions... until they change their protocol to just do it a different way. Then devs would have to explicitly update DatacarrierBytes() with another case to catch it. like ad blockers... They work until the ads use a different scheme and the blocker no longer works until the devs implement a new blocker.

It's not a real solution to the problem. This is just whack-a-mole imo.

What’s the real “fix”

A consensus rule that says:

“No witness stack element may exceed X bytes, no witness script may exceed Y bytes, no input may have more than Z stack elements.”

But this requires a hard fork.

You are getting closer to a valid argument, but it remains incomplete. Filters still provide resistance to spam, making it more expensive the more nodes filter it. Your argument is essentially: "Since Core doesn’t filter spam in OP_RETURN or the UTXO set, and UTXOs are less efficient for the network, then spammers should be allowed to use OP_RETURN."

The real question is whether spam should be filtered. The only counterargument presented is "filters don’t work," which is a red herring. The argument against filters that do work is that they are centralizing, but this claim is made without evidence. Yes, IP RBLs are centralized, but they are an ancient and ineffective solution, especially in the era of Tor. Bayesian filters are far more effective, though they can be poisoned; again, an old problem. The fact that we don’t have perfect filters is not an argument against using filters at all.

The assertion that every mempool on every node must be identical is presented without justification, and that requirement itself is a centralizing force.

This leaves us with: "Core devs are dedicated and underpaid and shouldn’t have to argue with non-experts; they should just do what they’re good at, which is writing software." This is the most pathetic argument of all. It relies on argumentum ad authoritatum and argumentum ad passiones, and implies that we should entrust our future and fortune to people who are wholly socially inept. Not only is this a highly questionable request, it also leaves open the possibility that these same developers might be unable to defend their "technical" positions against more cunning and malevolent influences; whose presence we are fully aware of.

But it doesn't make it any more expensive because more nodes filter it... Nearly every node filters dust. I made a dust tx that paid normal fee to prove this and it went through just fine.

All I want is a custom nostr:nprofile1qqs9g69ua6m5ec6ukstnmnyewj7a4j0gjjn5hu75f7w23d64gczunmgpz4mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujumt0wd68ytnsw43q4gnztg device with fat hardware controls for physically toggling airplane mode and the flashlight from off, red, amber, to bright white. ✈️🔴🟡⚪

All I want is a small phone 5.5" or less. With one good rear camera and no front cameras, in screen fingerprint reader and a 3 point slider for off, vibrate and ring.

It would be a phenomenal idea though because it would eliminate the need for your own domain.

You'd have to do some calculations on how long it takes to upload the output file and a TS file and then the stream would be delayed by that amount plus a little more.

I've thought about this before. I haven't ever actually tried and theoretically it's doable but something about the bandwidth in latency seems like it would be a challenge

Imagine you're playing nostr hero. You have some parchment pen and ink. you go exploring the mountians and two days into travel you write a note in that parchment and stiick it ti a tree. A kind one note is published with a tag that I can reference and when another player is in that same location, they can read the note you left. parchment has expiration time in the note. Paper is a normal kind one. If you write a book you can publish it as a long form note and you can store it in the local library in the city and other people can check them out in game. You get awarded badges for achievements. My head is spinning. gm. ☀

It should be the same character as on the site you currently get for your key at the discover page.

nostrhero.quest

If you look at the repo in docs and data you can check out the starting gear.

Soon you will all be able to play th opening and choose starting gear and spells. Need to think about spells a bit more but a lot of the inventory and item logic is in.

The client for the game will have to have centralized rules and permit saves and handle world state sync and stuff but I absolutely want to be able to play the game by yourself or together in a party when exploring or going to fight a boss.

Something I generated with my engine. A beginning save file for a character derived by the key and user chosen starting gear based on the class. Gold determined on background. All of it was generated by a few choices from me and the rest is derived and made in html and JavaScript go backend.

Try your npub and see if it loads that

You can use fanfares.io to lock your content for sats on nostr. Way more valuable imo.

Will send to PSA to be graded when it arrives 😎 🤞🏻 #pokemon

Does a condom reduce the chance of pregnancy? How does it do that? It stops sperm from getting to the egg. It's so clear how knots has lost when you must resort to these kind of semantics. It's pathetic.

Reduce means make less in amount. How do you make less in amount? Oh right... You stop some of them that would have otherwise gone through. Which filters can not do..

Okay so just don't answer my question then... II believe you think the issue is core pushed through a contentious change. It's my opinion this is not a contentious change because of the former issue I'm trying to get an answer from you for. Detractors only say it's contentious because they think filters solve a spam issue. They don't. So no contention...

Just poke around eBay for old think center minis. Try to get one with no hardrive and minimal ram because you'll be upgrading those anyways. You can snag them for $60-$100 usually, with the power supply. 32 gb ram is about $40 and 4tb ssd is about $200. But you can go 2tb of course if you wanna save $100 or so. 4 isn't needed for anything, just a little future proof.

I got lots of movies and TV shows... 😂

Older processors with higher clock rates... And yes, a 4tb ssd in each. Above is my NAS, ignore those. 28 TB total NAS, one drive is mirrored from the other.

Comparing a server to a server... WTF do you mean? These can run umbrel os if you really to cut off a leg and hamper your performance.
