Wealth based systems are the future. #Bitcoin is the foundation for wealth based financial capital. Critical thinking is required. Bitcoin class of 2017.

Tempting, but it really depends on how the bridge is built. I don't want to have to create a Bluesky account myself, but I wouldn't mind being able to see posts and follow profiles from there if there are people worth following.

As far as the number of people commenting concerns about Bluesky being too 'left leaning', I have to ask if you really understand what Nostr is and why it exists. Nostr is the social media protocol platform for the global civilization that we are building. It's not a silo where we only see the posts and profiles that agree with us. Should Bitcoin also only be allowed to be owned and controlled by the far right? Come on, we're better than that. At least I hope.

It means we would be able to see and follow profiles on Bluesky, and they would be able to see and follow profiles on Nostr. In theory we would not need a bluesky account ourselves, which is how I've seen it work with Mastadon and other services on the Federated network. Basically it would be a 'giant sucking sound' as people realize that Nostr posting is so much better and that all social media roads lead to Nostr.

It's subjective. If you HODL, you'll help support the price, and you won't lose capital. if you use it, you'll be boosting adoption. so it really depends on your personal priorities.

I'll be blunt, I hate advertising. It's pushing something into my face that I might or might not want to see, in the hopes that it will get my attention and dig into my brain deep enough that I might want to spend real money on it. The creativity that goes into some of the ads is fun, the first time. But the three hundred thousandth time I see the add I want to take everything related to that advertiser and drop it into a pit of lava.

If I don't like something, or if I'm not in the market for something, I don't want to see it. At least I don't want it shoved into my face every 15 minutes whether I like it or not. If I am in the market for something, I want to be able to search for my options, see what REAL PEOPLE say about the various choices, and then make my choice. Then it needs to go away.

What I see building on the Nostr network is something completely different. It's the Appreciation Model. If I like what someone has created and I can confirm that they are the creator of what I like, I can send them zaps to thank them for putting something in front of me that I appreciate.

So if the journey leads us down a new path where we pay for content we like and don't see the content we don't want to see, I'll be happy.

Capital is an abstract concept. Gold is a representation of capital. So is the US Dollar, so is MSTR stock and so is Bitcoin. All just representations of the abstraction.

The question is which representation is the best one to use for any given use case. And the answer changes depending on circumstances and time.

Just because Satoshi did not use the word "Capital" in his whitepaper or in communications with others doesn't mean that Bitcoin is not capital. Terminology does not make something what it is, function does.

Capital is the abstration behind Money, and Money has all properties: Store of Value, Medium of Exchange, Unit of Account. Words get in the way here, they don't help.

Saylor is a businessman, in the United States. Of course he is going to talk about money in terms of the US Dollar. That's not a surprise, it's just the default.

I agree with you that anything tied to the value of the US Dollar is going to go to zero against Bitcoin. USDC, USDT, anything related. No question.

But that doesn't mean that the USD and stablecoins are not representations of capital that we can or should use. It means that if we set our default to BTC, we will be building. If that default is set to USD, we will be sinking.

I'd rather build than sink.

Well, of course. The Wallet is a custodial wallet from Strike, which is a registered and regulated financial services company. Did you really expect any different?

Paul Cooper is absolutely incredible. I've invited him to come to Nostr, but he didn't respond on X.

Is #nostrapps down for anyone else?

The best representation of Capital that I have ever seen was the Bookkeeper on American Gods. Season 2, Episode 4. Bitcoin is a digital representation of Capital, one of the best that humanity has yet invented. It doesn't take sides.

Freedom does not come from money, it is something that we choose to express with or without money.

A true representation of Capital levels the playing field. It is up to us what we do with money, our time and our other resources.

My Nostr predictions for 2025

Exactly one year ago I published my Nostr predictions for 2024. Some came true, but most were, shall we say, aspirational, and, if we want to be generous, directionally correct. Happy to continue in the same vein and go out on a limb for 2025. Here we go, ordered by likelihood of coming true:

1. Primal will become much, MUCH better. Primal 3.0 will be a bigger leap forward than Primal 2.0 was. We will surprise everyone by the features, speed, level of polish, and ease of use.

2. Many other Nostr clients will impress by their progress in a relatively short time frame. If I had to pick one, I have a really good feeling about Highlighter.

3. Way more bitcoiners will join Nostr. While we currently only have a small subset of bitcoin enjoyers on Nostr, the new features and unique content will make Nostr irresistible to anyone interested in bitcoin.

4. Bitcoin-adjacent communities will start to discover and join Nostr. This will include health & wellness, financial twitter, human rights, libertarians, and other communities. As a result, the network will grow and become more formidable.

5. Spammers gonna spam. With the growth of the network, spammers will return in force. They will be sophisticated and relentless, putting all of our spam mitigation services to the test.

6. The Blossom protocol will make media hosting on Nostr much more robust and resistant to censorship.

7. Long form content will start to hit its stride on Nostr. This includes textual long form content (blogs, essays, articles, etc.) as well as long form video content.

8. Multiple Nostr projects will find effective and ethical ways to monetize, marking a watershed moment for the protocol. We will witness the formation of the first cohort of real businesses on Nostr, signaling the inevitable changing of the guard and the eventual extinction of the Legacy Web.

9. Nostr will experience a glimpse of what a ‘suddenly’ mainstream adoption moment looks like.

10. By the end of the year, everyone - even the haters - will realize that Nostr is going to win.

11. nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx will accuse me of not being bullish enough.

One thing is certain: we will keep pushing until we will this thing into existence. 🤝

Anyhow, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Pura Vida, and Peace and Love to you all! ♥️☀️

Another idea. What if the primal logo was more dynamic, perhaps reflecting how strong the connection is between device and the relays we have on our network list. If it shows green, we have a good connection, if it shows red, there's something going on. This would be more useful than our profile icon on mobile, and would always be visible on the web app.

I agree with this.

Imagine a client that can connect to Ethereum wallets so people can pass tokens around. They would still have to pay the transfer fees, paying in ETH, but it would integrate that entire ecosystem into the existing Nostr social network. It might be a bit confusing for people to try and zap across that barrier, but that would just encourage the development of ways to zap across the blockchain networks. Maybe WBTC?

We don't want to completely restrict Nostr to Bitcoin Only, because we want to focus on adoption first.

My First 3 Thoughts About Using Nostr.

1. The feed here feels clean, less like a firehose of nonsense, and more like an experience. Social media fatigue has been my biggest hurdle to trying something new. Between 𝕏, Facebook, and Instagram, keeping up has been exhausting as a solopreneur. But this? It’s like revisiting “Old ways, new days.” Honestly, it’s pretty damn cool to see a space that feels this refreshing. I’m getting the late1990s AOL WaReZ room feels.

2. Let’s face it…the way social media monetizes engagement is a dumpster fire, as it rewards spammy behavior, divisive posts, and clickbait nonsense. Here, the idea of people directly rewarding people feels…right. It aligns incentives in a way that makes sense; over time, I think this will be what sets Nostr apart.

3. The overall vibe here? Optimistic. It’s refreshing not to wade through the black-pilled doomers dominating 𝕏 these days. Over there, it feels like the loudest voices are just shouting their opinions into the void—and honestly, I’m over it. Here, the conversations feel constructive. People want to contribute something meaningful instead of just making noise.

A feature that would be completely amazing on Nostr would be the ability to create a knowledge graph of your posts, actions, zaps and network. Being able to see it as a 2D or even 3D view of who we are connecting with, how those connections interact, and what our network looks like.

Ok this in interesting set of ideas but i think i have some crtiques that maybe you can counter that will change my mind. ive tried to give them in the same order as your post:

1. im not very farmiliar with the Pay As You Go policy, but it sounds like since it was already broken before, the likelihood of it being enforced seems low. thats like trying to go back to a gold standard once we are already off it. we tried it, it failed already kind of thing

2. im no bitcoin miner, but from my understanding, these miners need to be very flexible in their employment because they are always searching for the cheapest energy. ive heard mining company ceos talk about how they stay profitable and its not always about having large mining centers, but instead a ton of small to medium size ones going to the cheap energy. the government is so bloated, slow, and designed for "rent seekers", that they just couldnt keep up with the cutthroat and ever evolving bitcoin mining industry. i understand the nodes and there ability to reach consensus is what keeps the network decentralized and secure, but centralized mining pools arent great for the networks security aswell. I think i would rather the US government holding more coins than control a lot of the hash power if I had to choose

3. i think when this endgame is understood, the whole dollar system will just evaporate entirely. im talking hyperinflation to dead like a 1930s Germany dead. Nobody is going to want to be holding the US dollar bag when its obvious what we are trying to do.

love the ideas though and i hope this can drive more discussion and ideas

3. Endgame for the US Dollar

I'm actually thinking about the opposite result. If the debt is slowly paid down over time, the amount of currency in circulation would slowly diminish over time, resulting in higher purchasing power per unit, which would try to keep up with the deflationary aspect of Bitcoin itself. It wouldn't be 1:1, but it would be deflation. I know that most economists claim that deflation is a bad thing because if money is going up in value and purchasing power people might decide to delay purchases today because they might be able to get more tomorrow, but I believe that kind of slowdown would not be catastrophic but a worthwhile exercise to help determine what goods and services people actually want instead of just buying because they know that prices are going up. Maybe people would want to buy quality more. Maybe manufacturers would want to MAKE quality goods and services again because they know if they don't customers won't come back or will wait until someone offers something better.

In the 1920's and 30's, Germany printed their currency because they were trying to pay off the debts from WWI. It was a disaster. I'm not suggesting that we print our way out of this, I'm suggesting that we actually think our way out of it.
