It's so incredibly hard to hear someone go off about "how expensive everything is" and how "we dont get paid enough" and "how low wages are"...

Then explain to them that inflation literally causes all of this, and that the reason it feels like running on a treadmill is because **by default you get poorer if you dont get at least a 7% raise every year.**

And then they say "but nobody would buy anything if money got more valuable, it would ruin the economy."

Mothafukr you are LITERALLY linking the chains that you complain about weighing you down.

Dumb has no cure… this will take time…

I love when I explain all of this and then hear “but the greedy corporations…” in return. 🤦‍♀️ In one ear, out the other.

My favourite:

- But who will build the roads without tax…

- We need inflation for growth

- Money is the root of all evil and therefore bitcoin too

The stockholm is strong on this planet

It’s not about the nail Guy, stop trying to fix me 😂

LMAO, this is the perfect analogy and godl star on the reference. That video is fucking great. 🤣

💯

You’ve clearly read a lot about Bitcoin nostr:nprofile1qqstnem9g6aqv3tw6vqaneftcj06frns56lj9q470gdww228vysz8hqprfmhxue69uhkummnw3ezummjv9hxwetsd9kxctnyv4mqzyrhwden5te0dehhxarj9ekxzmnynnj5w3 😅. Those still stuck in the fiat standard remain chained and unfree. Hopefully they listen — and free themselves soon with tools like Bitcoin and Nostr.

Stockholm syndrome side effect 😅

They love their fiat chains so much.

That common argument that deflationary money is bad for the economy is so infuriatingly weak... it doesn't mean nobody would buy anything... it means nobody would buy anything wastefully.

nostr:nevent1qvzqqqqqqypzpdue4cn7qdct9ptfj0ndfrc469jnn49228al867m627ypas2f5j7qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hj7qghwaehxw309aex2mrp0yh8qunfd4skctnwv46z7qpqpwrwauj8ayvggeqvqwz7dkksrtqhncqdyxfczqep04udcvkv439qrswje4

💯 people are led to believe that. While deflation can certainly be caused by economic weakness (which is a bad thing), it can also be caused my productivity improvements, automation, etc (which are good things). Consumer electronics is a perfect country example to the notion that when things get cheaper people stop buying things.

They crave the comfort of their own captivity. Complain about the weight of the chains, then defend the blacksmith. Offer them freedom, and they call it a threat to “the economy.” Some folks don’t want out—they just want better pillows in the cell.

AMEN

Also known as boomers

I have a hard time convincing my generation as well who are

Running the rat race

No no, the annoying one I've recently had was after explaining as clearly and simply as I could the mechanics of the economy, inflation, money printing and our collective situation, they respond with "yeah but see we weren't taught all of this, you guys are more educated about it, but we only know this".

BITCH I JUST EDUCATED YOU JUST NOW! LEARN FROM IT, ASK QUESTIONS, ANYTHING!

I cAnT kNoW iT cuZ NoBoDiEs tAuGHteD tO mE 🤣

Bitch download a fucking audiobook, dear god

I do sympathise to a point, but when we were talking about how people get ahead with finance, and the rest of us fall behind by avoiding it, the response was that it is materialism to want something.

I made a diagram to show how even a hire purchase car loan allows you to get more for less BECAUSE of inflation and its not easy to tell because of unit bias.

https://cdn.nostrcheck.me/0d97beae567fcec9c6574f1c6ef6126ea969d4992c3198e51c0fac52c5274a14/d95763cdc0bf04130e21bc378eed0ee913e72e0ca57984bcb169339c52c063f9.webp

I have obviously talked about bitcoin, but it's still more taboo and "higher risk" subject to be discussing than things like loans and stocks and shares.

I don't really advise getting a car loan, and I was actually surprised myself with this discovery.

Some will get it, some will not, propaganda has been effective is perpetuating fallacies. Truth prevails.

I have a family friend who's bank got hacked and she lost a bunch of money. Her son is a hardcore bitcoiner (like renounced citizenship and lives off it on an island somewhere hardcore) and she knows I am as well. I told her she might want to get some bitcoin and that bitch rolled her eyes at me. Some are just not going to make it

Bitcoin requires learning something - on your own, without being told you have to for work, school, etc.

Very few are willing to do this.

Make sure your children don’t end up like that.

Yeah, if money got more valuable, we'd stop doing anything interesting or consuming anything, because it might be cheaper in the future. It's a fact, experts have confirmed it.

For example, since I became a Bitcoiner, I have stopped driving, eating, working, cut the internet, gone on vacation, stopped feeding my animals, and no longer pay for home utilities, because it'll be cheaper in the future.

You stopped feeding the animals!?!

Their food will be cheaper in the future, due to using a deflationary money.

They can starve for the next year or so. I'm not spending any money whatsoever, as long as my money doesn't inflate.

💀

We need stable 2% inflation, or the pets will starve.

think of the poodles 🐩

No noodles for poodles till inflation is 2%

Since I've became a Bitcoiner I've learned more things than in any phase of my life.

Yeah, it's sad. I have managed to people's attention with price estimation. Saying something like "buying only €1k of Bitcoin today is €16k in 10 years. How crazy is that?"

That's what truly grabs people's attention, but even then they don't look, they don't dig.

I told this to a friend of mine and he was like "wow, I'm gonna buy Bitcoin". He never talked about it again.

For me this is the greatest discovery ever, and especially taking into account what's happening right now, it's mind blowing. But for most people it's completely irrelevant. What a crazy world isn't it?

I think this is one of the weirdest things to be honest, a lot of people seem to be completely unaffected by the price alone

That and also the we are indebted like hell and then you ask who we are indebted to and they somehow seem to think that nobody knows and stop trying to understand that and refuse to accept that the countries moneyprnt like hell

A lot of people deserve what will come

💯. So many people addicted to the “cheap” stuff not realizing they’re enslaving themselves.

👍🏻👍🏻😅

I used to think like that! Then I saw something that showed the median wage being outpaced by productivity, wondered WTF?? Then I started to learn more about fiat and had the pain point realizing that all of my raises just kept me in the same buying power as nearly 8 years prior.

Congrats for getting raises!

Really a crazy attitude many people have 🥲

Our economy is already ruined with its fiat foundations.

Nobody buying things is the point, and I'm not sure why people don't lean into this more. Most spending is wasted on crap, let alone eventually you'll _have_ to buy what you need, and quality will be in demand.

"Ohh look at my money it's getting more valuable, better not get food and shelter and die instead."

I think it’s more like 12/15% real inflation (of the things you actually want to buy)

And yes, how many times have I heard something similar!

It’s as annoying as “I don’t buy it because I don’t understand it”, after which you ask “how does central banking work?” And you get a ridiculous answer

Well done for trying to point it out though. Each Bitcoin touch point is important over time

Inflation’s a silent thief—7% raise or bust just to stay afloat! And that "nobody would buy anything" line? Total myth. If money held its value, people would still spend; they’d just get more bang for their buck.

The cognitive dissonance is real.

We are in a maze that we will never get out of. The famous cat that bites its tail 🤷‍♂️ created the problems and the (false) justifications for these problems. People think that this system is the least worst, and in the meantime it gets impoverished

Wow, you’re saying 10s of millions of illegals and infinity third world H1B cheats cause inflation and that we should remove them from America?

Yes, I honestly am done talking with people about this. Those who know me well enough know that I am a Bitcoiner. Those who don't know me but become close inevitably will know my take on Bitcoin. I guard my friendships and would likely not friend someone with the mentality you just described. #HFSP to those who clamor for centralized control.

If you wouldn’t buy it now, knowing the prices will decline in the future…

Then you can’t afford it.

Nicely said: “Mothafukr you are LITERALLY linking the chains that you complain about weighing you down.”

Some people just love to complain. Let them be and we just stack sats and chill. Why not? 😎

When I hear about prices of everything going up I tell them a little story trying to peak their interest. It rarely gets much of a response and they go back to normie-ville.

Back in the 1800's a silver dollar would buy you a really nice suit for $1, that silver dollar will still buy you a really nice suit today but the silver dollar and suit are worth about $2000. Its not the price going up its the value of the dollar going down.....🦗 🦗

People believe this false premises based on the historic monopoly on money printing, and that there is only "one" legal mean of payment. People have a hard time wrapping their heads around the fundamental truth that "money" is just a simple mean of transaction/exchange, NOT a tool of power and control.

- Prices on Cars don't spiral endless out of control just because a model has a limited production. People just find another model.

- People don't put all their savings into rareearth metals just bacuse they are rare.

- If one crypto gets to bloated (or loose relevance) people will cashout (hopefully in time) and use another.

- You can never prevent people from putting all their savings into Tulips. That's the beauty of free choice.

I’m not sure it’s a simple means of exchange.

The part I think many people are missing. They think money is money. It’s not. There is a spectrum or a quality of money. Healthy and Junk money. Just like Health and Junk food.

Use healthy money and build healthy money habits. And become financially fit.

Exchange junk. Get junk. Become junk.

You are absolutely right.

I love that when a thread can be pulled all the way through an argument from start to finish, only logic wins.

nostr:nevent1qqs943p9u9mpel4jssycah7rhcugqhratfm7qcerwhfw6mhh8mpylqcux8mz2

I have heard this argument from some of the smartest people around me. It’s so frustrating!

Sorry to break it to you, but they're not smart. 🤙

😂

blaming 100% of it on "corporations price gouging" is also very frustrating

When the sage points at the solution, the imbecile examines the finger.

You cant help those who don't want to help themselves. Some people just like to complain.
