Feel free to share yours I'm interested in what y'all get on the compass
Question though does this mean I'm "right wing" ? Because in my mind wings are for dummies

Question though does this mean I'm "right wing" ? Because in my mind wings are for dummies

This is what I got.
So if I read this right, the difference between us would be you favor more restrictions on corporations but we both have same ideas on social restrictions?
Probably. Im probably what's referred to as socially liberal. I don't really care how people live their lives as long as they don't try to push it onto me.
My stance on corporate restrictions really depends on the circumstance and the particular regulation. Something that holds back businesses from developing, like licensing and certain other regulations that stand in our current environment seem asinine to me. But regulations on say toxic waste management for factories and production companies are probably a halfway decent idea.
These two stances seem to be in conflict to me...(And maybe they are in conflict and you're fine with that. This isn't an insult)
What's the difference between "how someone lives their life" and "how someone runs their company"? If you don't want other people's opinions pushed on the former, why is it okay on the latter?
I think In general, I don't really care how somebody runs their company. But I tend to draw a pretty hard line when there's a company that is, for instance, dumping a bunch of toxic waste, in an irresponsible manner and harming communities around them. You would hope that people running large companies would dispose of waste in a responsible manner, but this is not always the case.
For instance, in my local area, I can think of two specific examples. One was a cabinet company who was dumping their leftover paints and staining materials down a drain that led to a river. They have been heavily fined and are now watched very close by the city. And there was a pressure-treating plant for wood that damaged the area around it so bad that if you live in a 10 mile radius from the plant, you really cant have a garden and Unfortunately, there is a fair amount of housing surrounding the plant, which I think is stupid, but whatever.
It probably does conflict with the former but at least in the specific case of irresponsible waste management that does harm to the community and envroment, there should be some form of penalty and I don't really know how else one would enforce regulations like this without some form of governance.
Iβm sure you are right.
Is not the best test, very much biased, not based.
π»
Where is the test?
The square is dumb. The triangle is better, but still excessive. Freedom or Statism.
Great balance βοΈ IMO.
this thing is fucked because there aren't enough antistate options. it doesn't let me get libertarian enough.
that's more like it. down in the corner like the dirty newt that I am.

Well then, after seeing my results, i don't think I've ever been so offended
Why do we like to find ourselves in limiting categories, outdated ones on top of it? The New (incl. Bitcoin) is off any known fields.
I'm seeing a general trend in this thread...
God damn libertarians! They are ruining the thread!
That compass test is dumb as hell and cannot accurately assess the worldview of most
So many questions I want to chose "neither".
This was a really interesting exercise. Thanks for sharing it

Our first libertarian left, welcome to the thread sir
I was hoping for a little more authoritarianism

It seems that the test assumes that if I strongly disagree with an idea, it means I want the government to interviene.
It falsely assumes we want a government at all!!
But the lack of #govt is #anarchy surely?
YES, THE DREAM
So is there any point having countries or national borders at all?
no, nation states are a stupid idea, they should be way smaller decentralized communities of city states, who cooperate and keep the peace through free trade
π―
Like the United States if it was operating as intended.
So these city states should be able to have whatever type of #government they want as long as movement was free between them? I can see that. It's not quite #anarchy, but it could work.
So some cities could be atheists and refuse to accept any creed and if you wanted your #God respected you could leave and go somewhere that agreed with you. That seems fair enough.
I'm thinking this through. So you could have libertine cities where #people were free to live polyamorously , because that would be the same. If you want traditional families you just go somewhere else.
And you would have Islamic and #Christian cities etc. I think I could buy that cheese :)
Everything is voluntary, think of them like big HOA/condo communities, many will have different customs and rules, private security, private courts
Then multiple communities can pool resources to hire private military contractors to defend against other nation-states who aren't practicing anarchy, and if they do a bad job you can fire them and hire another contractor in a free market
It's similar to having a government, but you can fire them, which is an important distinction
I suppose the problem arrives when you get people from other countries who like the ideas of one of your cities and that city wants to welcome them openly, but other cities don't want those cities growing too fast.
Then you're back to square one :)
I didn't do that one, but most of these tests work from the bases that truly libertarians want people to be free from all interference, not just from the government.
I tend to agree with this. There's very little practical difference between being told what to do by your govt or your neighbourhood bully.
Here is what I got.. somewhat accurate I guess
I got this on the other test..
The square is misleading since left libertarian is an oxymoron. It's more like a triangle with the corners being libertarian, progressive, and reactionary.
Ancap social libertarian. Bottom right?
Apparently I'm not as libertarian as I thought.

Well I've done a few of those and I land way down in the bottom left. It's the rarest group, even though you'd think it would be common.
My outlook does align with this. I don't really understand the bottom right if I'm honest.
I think like this. So you want #people to stand on their own two feet, but you want them to have your sense of #morality and believe in your #God.
That's not on, Stay out of people's wallets, stay out of their bedrooms and stay out of their heads too. That's perfectly consistent.
If young people don't want #sex or kids, and don't want to work full time, we stay out of their way. It's none of our #business.
