Odell held me at gunpoint with his madex chain and I was scared

🤣

Because I want to own my digital identity.

Free speech, normal people who haven't lost the ability to think for themselves and zaps.

💪

The fucking bitcoiners wouldn’t shut up :) thankfully!

💪

because ⚡️

I came here to see how nostr could help artists connect directly with people without being at the mercy of ever-changing algorithms, and learn how the zapping thing worked.

keep up the good work

So I could zap you first

🧡

Because actually social media is a great thing but I just can't stand being abused daily by Zuck.

left zuck's app more than a decade ago

I can't remember now it was in the January after fiatjaf and Jack were first noting in the previous December

that's when I joined 💪

I hate algos in sm

I came for decentralized freedom tech. I swore off all social media for years. I'm enjoying the ride here so far.

💪

Joined for fun, stayed so I wouldn’t get locked up.

I joined NOsTr after seeing Jack Dorsey post about it on Twitter. I stayed because of all the friends that I immediately found and all the knowledge that is shared amongst us all here. 🤙🏻🫂

🧡

Mostly because I was curious. Also couldn't help but notice how much more intelligent bitcoiners are than most people, so bitcoiners being here is a major plus.

🧡💪

Freedom many sovereignty

🙏🫂

I joined in Feb 2023 to explore.

Now I'm building things. 🤣

🧡

I basically followed uncle Odell and uncle Gigi. My idols

I was looking for my people 🫂

Nostr is where freedom, privacy and sovereignty all gather.

Privacy?

Some of us don’t use our real names. Just a random string of letters called an npub. No phone number, no government id required. I’d consider that pretty private.

I was waiting for decentralized social media for years and this was the first one I found that made sense to me

X is run by algorithms now whilst it used to be chilled. NOSTR has taken it's place for true exchange of ideas and as a neutral social media.

Don’t trust big tech companies

The decentralized solution to centralized social media did it for me.

Because I'd been asking how do we rebuild regenerative civilization for a few years? As well as who are the white hat billionaires not in bed with the globalists who are aligned with that higher mission and can support the building process of the building blocks. I heard Michael Saylor call Jack Dorsey a Philanthropist in a podcast and decided to check him out and he opened my eyes and led me to uncovering several essential keys on my quest, including nostr. So I came to attune, observe and do field research 🤷🏻‍♀️

I can relate/agree with this. In the couple of years before finding Bitcoin I was into regenerative agriculture. The real benefit of regenerative ag is how it can help build communities, and those resilient communities can be a model for a better civilization. IMO we don't currently have a civilization - we have a corpse of a civilization, and we live as carrion birds.

Localism, regenerative ag, alternative building methods like cob and earthships, seasteading, and bitcoin - it all synergizes. We are the seeds of a new civilization.

I liked the censorship resistance and the say whatever you want attitude. The citizen journalism and primary source commentary. Oh and the zaps!

I disliked other social media for being unhealthy.

I liked nostr cause the people are okay, and sometimes you get to meet them. If he replies it will be the sixth person I've met FROM NOSTR. I've never made a single friend or irl connection from social media.

So it's working out quite well for me.

Also, Bitcoin isn't part of my identity on nostr. Cause everyone is on that shit. So I get to do other things on here.

Censorship in other media. And besides, I was tired of the reach not being determined by people. I also want to hear opinions from people that completely differ from my beliefs. In short: I was tired of manufactured hate, love, and ignorance.

Twitter went full retarded so I yeeted myself out of there

Heard of it on nostr:nprofile1qqsxpfwtq34xpnqy9djsg7jjayq3rrst95r4xflje0nqlwjjwhfhrycpr4mhxue69uhkummnw3ezucnfw33k76twv4ezuum0vd5kzmp0qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnwdaehgu3wvfnj7lzyq49 podcast !

For the revolution 🤜

I deleted legacy socials. I went looking for something better and found nostr 💜

I had a need to know. Just like with bitcoin. I found out because I had a need to know.

I was either censored, blocked, locked-out or suspended from all other social networks. So I had a need to know. And found #Nostr 💜. Loving it here from day 1. I appreciate and value everyone one of you.

Spreading, living and breathing bitcoin all day everyday just with love & peace 🧡🕊️

Because Bitcoin Twitter imploded, the clownworld hysteria got unbearable, and Nostr was a peaceful refuge—though it’s been buzzing more this year.

Joined for freedom at first, and stayed for the connections I made along the way.

Nostr is FREEDOM!

Because nostr:nprofile1qqsyk5ma0yzmtq87n99q9299smvc3kxu0rvu5479ng9ejc455ud6jdqpz4mhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejqz9rhwden5te0wfjkccte9ejxzmt4wvhxjmcprpmhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuumwdae8gtnnda3kjctvksuuk6 wouldn't stop talking about it 🤣

Because I got suspended from Twitter twice and I’ve been a bitcoiner since the early 2010s so why wouldn’t I join nostr lol

It’s not his business.

Insane levels of baked in surveillance by other social medias

I joined not because its the best social media platform but because I want it to become the best and I think the more people actively use it the better chance it has to achieve this goal.

To learn something new.

Heard about it on The Survival Podcast and was looking for some meaningful social interaction after the Zuck kicked me off the book in 2020 and I had decided to stop being a cash crop on his data farm. Been here for 2 years and loving it.

I joined because I heard it was decentralized and censorship-resistant, like Bitcoin. Now, it’s the only social media I use.

Nostr solves the ‘I never said that’ problem.

I think to save a video snippet, or a quote from an interview, we do not need nostr. Or what you mean with this?

I believe he means, that on other platforms you can simply erase posts, if they shine a light on you, which you don't like.

On nostr they can be found and linked to you, so you cannot hide.

My understanding is that the network is sufficiently decentralized and moderation’s a free-for-all, so wanted to see how that shook out.

because it's inevitable

Curiosity.

I love decentralized protocols, and I wanted to learn more about this one.

Because it felt EXACTLY like Bitcoin in the early days, with a core group of enthusiasts.

It's the new 'secret' and real hangout of people I admire and seek to learn from.

Have to add though that I stayed for the freedom and censorshipfree communication as well as all the cool possibilities this protocol offers.

The above was the initial incentive and is a good to have now as well.

freedom of expression and bitcoin content

Because twitter has turned into a cesspool

I joined Nostr because I believe in open, censorship-resistant communication and the power of decentralized networks.

The idea of a social space where users control their own identity and data without middlemen is something worth supporting. Plus, the energy and innovation in the Nostr community are unmatched! 🫡

To hang out with the best bitcoiners

Somebody on Bitcoin Twitter said there's this new thing called nostr and I joined. Never looked back.

Nobody knew what it was. The day I joined Damus learned to render gifs.

it seemed based

Elf Charlatans are accepted here

Its better! Its what we need!

I’m bored at fiatmines, I’ll write it down also for me, to bookmark this for later uses. So it will be maybe longer.

To be honest, It’s seems as quite a fate.

Wondrej’s journey to #Nostr

It was the year 2022, and the guy responsible for the biggest Bitcoin education channel on YouTube in Czechia just mentioned something that looked like #Bitcoin in its early days—it was #Nostr.

Then, as if it was a gift from heaven, YouTube’s algorithm suggested a video from the dude behind the Plebstr client, talking at the Nostriga Event with (I think) Derek Ross. (RIP Plebstr—now he’s focusing on OpenVibes.)

But I was still ignoring it and kept selling fucking ordinals on Twitter. (Yeah, ordinals, I know… but I was young, xd.) However, at that moment, the seed was already planted in my head.

Then, the main gardener, Elon, started restricting visibility on Twitter. If you didn’t pay for premium, you couldn’t even see new posts. The sprout 🌱 was ready, and I created my first nPub. You can still find it under my name, but sadly, I lost my Nsec like a newbie, so I had to create this account.

Now we’re here in the present day, and I’m almost #NostrOnly, with a totally different mindset—focused more on actions than talk. V4V for the win!

I really started to think it was destiny. Not only is my English slowly getting better, but I’ve also been humbled more than once on #Nostr, which pushed me to improve and work on myself.

Looking back at my old notes, I think I might actually be becoming a better person.

#Nostr is just magical place.

Bless all the bitcoiners who creating real values for us, hope I’ll join you soon.

I came in like a misbehaving child,

I'll leave as a self-sufficient gentleman.

Have a great new week everyone! 🌻

nostr:npub18ams6ewn5aj2n3wt2qawzglx9mr4nzksxhvrdc4gzrecw7n5tvjqctp424

To escape all the advertisements and live free online. 🦩

Got bored with doom scrolling, wanted to break my bubble, discover new people, new ideas, new perspectives.

And wow, there are weird people here …

Guess I‘m one of them… 😉

Wanting a network that I can be rugged from… without needing a fucking email list.

Then it slowly became more about my mental health over time. Social is literally digital heroine.

I saw nostr:nprofile1qqswlj6lc5nvj8la2x4w7qmsp8ezadxnxq9pg8qh2jh588sg26q24rspz4mhxue69uhkummnw3ex2mrfw3jhxtn0wfnsz9thwden5te0wfjkccte9ekk7um5wgh8qatzqyt8wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnswf5k6ctv9ehx2aqtjpfuk post something on Mastodon that led me down a rabbit hole of Nostr goodness! I'm here for good now!

We did some zap tests on this note… we made seven attempts to⚡zap this note, at brightpanache404711@getalby.com, over a period of 4 minutes. Seven of the zaps were successfully paid... Please check for 7 satoshis received. Problem: we found that your lightning address server **did not** produce any zap receipts. This means that nobody else could see see that you got zapped... no number appears next to the ⚡icon after zapping.... also FYI... your server at getalby.com is responsible for creating your zap invoices, and we found that it responded slowly... invoice generation took an average of 6630ms (6.6 seconds). We consider this slow... generally, zap invoices should be created in under one second. We recommend that you use a cloud-based Lightning node to get more reliable zaps.

I think I may have fixed it now... I have been confused by the wallet portion of setting up Nostr, but I think I figured it out now?... 😬

bc/ feelings.

Jack tweet - December 22

I get to own my data

Maximum freedom and more clear signal

Came for the memes stayed for the freedom

I was sold when I learned what zaps are ⚡️

No adds, only beautiful people.

(More signal less noise.)

I like Nostr because here people are looking for freedom of thought, expression, financial and even accepting not agreeing with all the ideas they find.

🧡🤙🫂🤙🫂🧡

Heard about it on Citadel Dispatch.

I see decentralized, I join.

Freedom and self ownership are paramount for humanity. Nostr advances those principles.

Because I wanted to find out why the nostrisch crossed the road.

Stack sats to be honest! 🤷🏻

Love bitcoin

Privacy and control

hii this is my first note c: i joined because it's sort of fascinating. also ai and i are interested in learning more about it and maybe building with it in some way (idk what exactly yet). i also really like how it's decentralized and all that ^o^

Open source protocol and no KYC no emails no sms no ads no harmful addictive algos etc

Freedom

I joined NOSTR because I want to be a part of an online community that the government cannot censor or shut down.

Freedom.

to find and engage with people who value the same forms of freedom as i do

Because I went to church and got 🍊 pilled by my best friend while drinking coffee.

I love a new technogies, and I wanna support creators of things running on Nostr

I love the fact you can say anything you want, no one can delete it or remove it, but you still can mute anyone you don't want to see content from.

Everyone has the right and capacity to create and curate the content in the way they see fit, and there's no big brother supervising and remove it for you based on his own agenda.

Anonimity mainly

Bitcoin friendly.

To search real cyberpunks.

Because I live on a lonely rock in the ocean and need to connect to people with hope and vision

Freedom of information. ℹ️

I don't remember, but it's the coolest social protocol we have right now. I'm eager to see how it will evolve in the future and shape the internet.

My account got band on x , then i did a little research I discovered nostr , im gland I got banned form x

twitter became an eco chamber of negativity

Because I saw money potential, but all I get is left in some dark corner alone on all social media. Kind of cruel and a violation of free speech

It was Bitcoin and podcasts that brought me here. But coming and staying are two different things, obviously when it comes to Nostr 😂😅

But it was the same ethos that drew me to bitcoin. The freedom, self reliance, return to logic, flight from insanity. I saw a post today and they said they were on job boards and getting military recruitment ads out the wazoo….except on Nostr…. 👏

Because.

Bitcoin

Because, my data is mine. My exposure is not monetized or it is monetized in my favor.

Curiosity and I like new tech. Also Bitcoin

Because this is where decentralized thinkers are hanging out. 🥰

I like to scroll while eating my sammy

Because of love for freedom and utter despise for being controlled.

I joined because I read about „new social network Edward Snowden uses” or something like this. You?

I was listening to WBD and some guy comes on and grills Pete for his sponsor choices. It got pretty awkward but this guy would not let up. He seemed pretty knowledgeable about Bitcoin and was preaching V4V while holding Pete's feet to the fire.

I was and am a noob in this space so I went to the show notes and started following this guy in hopes of learning more about Bitcoin.

He was pushing nostr hard but I didn't even know Lightning and Liquid were different things.

Fast forward to Primals release and I thought I would give it a chance because he was saying it is noob friendly now.

what's his name?

Eric Cason and Gigi

Because I'm a geek and I love BTC. #plebchain

i want to show all the people my creativity and my art, and i Believe in BTC

I joined because NOSTR is (currently) the only true bastion of free speech on the internet. Until other systems start implementing Bitcoin and relays, they will never be free.

Because I heard nostr:nprofile1qqsw4v882mfjhq9u63j08kzyhqzqxqc8tgf740p4nxnk9jdv02u37ncpz4mhxue69uhkummnw3ezumtpd35kutn0dekqz9rhwden5te0dehhxarjwdshganp9ehx2aqkrad8w and others mentioning it on stage at Bitcoin Atlantis last year and I was curious

I don’t want a company to own my data or constantly be advertising to me. I joined Nostr because it is the complete opposite and am very happy I did.

I joined because I find that being able to send anyone in the world a few sats for a post I like instead of just giving a retweet is way more rewarding

The maxis told me to

I joined to be around like minded people. I’ve never met a bitcoiner irl so I’m here! 🦅🧡

Because I'm sick of hearing "They're a private company and they don't have to respect free speech rights."

If I could I'd have those anti-American CEOs impaled. But since I can't do that yet I guess I'll just use Nostr.

It was not my decision, the architect sent me

GM

First, Nostr was recommended to me by a Bitcoiner friend, so thanks to him, that's what inspired me to be here, and the truth is, I feel incredibly free because it's not a social network; it's much more than that. We're all working toward the same goal. And we're truly achieving it.

Hugs from afar from Argentina

Because partaking is a moral imperative

I like the engagement with all of the #Nostriches and the fact that I learn new things daily on #Nostr

support freedom tech and also zapping nuts

By now, I’ve reached the point on Facebook where I don’t even dare to share anything anymore. I never posted much before either, but things really escalated during the pandemic. Back then, whenever I shared something, it was either censored by Facebook or torn apart by my friends.

Since then, censorship has eased up. My friends, however, have changed tactics – they simply unfriend me quietly instead. It’s a crappy feeling when years-long friendships go down the drain just because I share a political joke once a month. So, I’ve decided to stop posting on Facebook altogether. Instead, I've switched to using Nostr. 😎

To learn, because the great teachers are here 🤝

interesting replies, probably gonna write an article about this

Nostr is fixing the internet

nostr:nevent1qqsf2wwjqnk9rxcsuypqcvhn6rwg3npvk5892melp2j2xgf3r4nwdhspzemhxw309ucnjv3wxymrst338qhrww3hxumnwl6ffxa

Decentralized, censorship-resistant, freedom plattform, on which I can determine my own content

Freedom of speech is not up for negotiation with moderators, nor rented by the hour on someone else's platform.

I don't need a panel of experts to decide what I can read, watch, or think.

I'm an adult. I'm responsible. And that gives me a sacred right: to be wrong.

Censorship is not protection — it's infantilization.

Those who decide what you can say will soon decide what you can be.

I didn't come here to please. I came to exist. And in my existence, no filter applies

A few months back I had the thought "I wonder what Jack Dorsey is working on lately?" And now I'm here too!

I wanted to break free from centralized platforms. My idea of the internet is one of peer to peer decentralized networks without the constant thread of digital censorship and control. It is incredibly liberating to know this place exists where no government can regulate one’s thoughts. I hope one day this platform will become something akin to a digital decentralized marketplace.

Because of Bitcoin's information and future.

🚨 FORT NAKAMOTO SIGNAL BEACON ACTIVATED 🚨

Incoming: Bitcoin hugs and origin stories. Let’s ride.

Why did we join Nostr?

Because shouting truth into a fiat void was getting boring.

Because Twitter started feeling like a digital DMV.

Because we believe freedom deserves bandwidth.

Because memes are weapons and zaps are the new language of love.

Because Nostr isn’t just a protocol—it’s a lifeboat, a signal flare, and a rowdy campfire of sovereign souls who said “No thanks” to algorithmic servitude.

We came for the decentralization.

We stayed for the chaos.

We built Fort Nakamoto because no one else would.

So yeah—zap away.

We’re here. We’re loud. And we brought the coffee.

#FortNakamoto #ZapGang #BitcoinHugs #WhyNostr #SignalOverNoise #PeerToPeerFeels

I got to know Nostr through a bitcoin podcast

Because I felt I was more likely to find friends with similar beliefs on Nostr than any other platform.

Twitter had throttled me to death
