I just mean starting from scratch, there's no migration pricess (yet)

Yeah haha I didn't realize how short it would be

nostr:npub1jlrs53pkdfjnts29kveljul2sm0actt6n8dxrrzqcersttvcuv3qdjynqn and nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s were talking about this on a recent Thank God for Nostr podcast.

My takeaway was that it's very good but has serious scaling limits because of this.

It will scale better when they finish integrating MLS (they've been working on it for 3 years, with the help of the German government).

Is nostr viral? If so, what is its product hook?

https://sacks.substack.com/p/product-first

I'm trying to build something around small-to-medium sized groups to create a form of this virality. Another idea is to imitate paypal, which made it possible to "email money" by making it possible to "email nostr". I'm not exactly sure how that would work, but cross-posting to other platforms and protocols is our friend, if the value proposition can be communicated in that context.

Other ideas?

Sounds like it can't be recharged, but there is something about changimg a key in the multisig. I'm not sure what that's for.

Anyone have opinions about offline.cash? Seems pretty cool to me.

Probably a couple new kinds that are less conflict prone. There are things clients can do to not totally nuke follow lists though.

My profile got nuked while trying to use nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft's Highlighter.com #nostr 😒😩

This comes just a couple of weeks after my follows were nuked. I know, backup your data, but it would be nice if client apps already automatically did this, or if there was a DVM one could subscribe to do this, or a dedicated relay specifically for this. Perhaps nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s's damusdb will do this, but I use Android so I don't Damus. Yet.

This won't be fixed until we fix the protocol

Yeah, I like it because you can "drill down" without losing your place. But that pattern will likely ho away eventually, or at least be used less.

Added to my satire list

How's your tuade going?

As much as she deserves to be on every list, I put her on the bitcoin one

My family is always asking me to come home, but no, someone's gotta keep the spinners going

My "Freedom" list is looking a little thin. Anyone I can add that isn't more relevant to either nostr or bitcoin?

Yeah, they could fork it, but that requires a ton of technical ability most people don't have. I'm trying to build coracle to be easily adaptable out of the box, just by setting a few environment variables.

🐪 Got a new release of Coracle for you all! Lots in this one, but somehow I still didn't hit all my milestones 🤔

Just a couple things to flag (full change log is at the bottom as usual):

- You can now edit and delete calendar events and listings. Listings also have a new "status" field so you can set it to sold. Upvote the PR to get this into the protocol here: https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/pull/1009

- Tons of improvements to closed groups make them vaguely usable, rather than mostly unusable. Part of this involved a new event kind 1060 that wraps events the same way as described in NIP 59, but using NIP 04 encryption. I don't encourage the use of this, it's only temporary until signers have NIP 44 support.

- I fixed a bug where if you're logged in with your private key rather than an extension and create a new conversation, it will automatically send a new-style DM without an option to use the old format. If this describes you, check to make sure your messages went through!

Checkout my imagination of WOT user experience:

nostr:note1za8gapacw9l2r6eqxljpx478r8vgfsd3uxe3qkh7k424sc9nekssyevl7p

… in your scenario “mute” wd act as a “trustworthy down vote”, wherein if enough of your followers “muted jameson” then he MAY cease to be marked as “trustworthy” (for you) and you MAY be notified (depending on your WOT filter settings) of this change.

IMHO, “WOT filter” needs to be its own NIP, to provide a protocol for other NIP filters and a definition for consistent client UX.

Thoughts?

I don't think WoT needs a NIP, this is something clients can do differently without hurting interoperability.

Lots of stuff:

- Many clients implement nip 65

- Many clients have decent content filtering, including WoT scores

- Much improved client designs

- More/better libraries

- Speaking for myself, Coracle's notifications, thread loading, etc are much more stable

You're right that the bugs and incompatibility is getting worse and needs to be a focus going forward. But probably the biggest thing is that people are creating a ton of proof-of-concept clients (like flare, flockstr, nostr.app, nostapp.link, yondar, shipyard, etc). This does increase the bugs, but it's also an important part of growth and maturity.

Of my many skills, looking both ways is among them

Yeah, I'm not sure how it works, but it's common for companies to set them up to allow employees tunneled access to their intranet. I assume it would be fairly simple to do the same for your home network. I believe this is what https://tailscale.com/ does.

Some thoughts:

- Promote DM requests and notifications if there's a high enough score

- Hide DM requests/notifications with a low enough score

- Discover new accounts based on high WoT

- Discover new accounts based on low personal WoT but who have been verified in some other way (sentiment analysis, NIP 05 verification with particular domains, badge assignment). This would be a way to help bootstrap new users into the social graph.

In Coracle, you can "log in as" any other use and then visit your profile and you'll see your WoT score from that person's perspective.

That is dramatic, especially on such a short timescale. I would have expected something like that over the last 20 years, but over the last 3?

Hey nostr:npub1gcxzte5zlkncx26j68ez60fzkvtkm9e0vrwdcvsjakxf9mu9qewqlfnj5z can we get a new application option to help combat potentially leaking IP addresses via image loading? Maybe add a following only option here? So that we can always load images from people we're following. Thanks.

#m=image%2Fjpeg&dim=1080x2400&blurhash=%5B02O%7CsNFD%25xu%3FHM%7B-%3Bxut6M%7B%252xut6M%7C%25Mxt%7EqM%7CD%24t7oeM%7B-%3Bt7-%3BM%7Bt7t7xuM%7B%25Mt7_3M%7BIUt7&x=efbb1ebe1e2ab671cc6816d40b9202649f11a43c0304dbd48959fe936a14a8de

Several clients use imgproxy to speed up image loading and prevent ip leaking (except to the imgproxy server).

I will defer on the question of German poetry. The compound words could probably be used to pretty good effect. But you get my point.

I keep waiting for relay hints to start appearing in e tags but they never do. Same with DMs, I simply can't DM certain people because their client doesn't look in the right place. This is probably the most important thing to fix on nostr.

Dore is so good, I bought a collection of his Bible illustrations for my kids (and me) to look at.
