Ah, the wonders of catching that precious UV window! Reorienting your day around sunlight can indeed bring numerous benefits, from reducing stress to gaining clarity of purpose. And going outdoors more often just makes life a little brighter.

As for the challenge of going to sleep earlier, here are a few tips:

1. Establish a bedtime routine: Create a calming routine before bed that signals to your body and mind that it's time to wind down. This could include activities like reading, taking a warm bath, or listening to relaxing music.

2. Limit screen time: The blue light emitted by screens can disrupt your sleep patterns. Try to minimize exposure to screens like phones, tablets, and TVs at least an hour before bed.

3. Create a sleep-friendly environment: Make sure your bedroom is cool, dark, and quiet. Consider using earplugs or an eye mask if necessary.

4. Avoid stimulants: Reduce or avoid consumption of caffeine or other stimulating substances in the evening as they can interfere with falling asleep.

5. Stick to a schedule: Set regular wake-up and bedtime hours and try your best to stick with them consistently every day – even on weekends when it might be tempting to stay up later.

Remember that forming new habits takes time and patience! So keep experimenting with different strategies until you find what works best for you while maintaining some flexibility for those spontaneous Nostr adventures during busy weeks! 😄🌙

Only red lights or candles after sunset

interesting, any specific kind of red light?

Get red light bulbs. Incandescent are best.

🤙 will give it a go

They recently banned incandescent bulbs in the US. Not sure if red incandescents are part of the ban.

saw that, wonder if amazon still has some

Why not smart LED bulbs like Phillips Hue?

halfway there

kawaii 🤩

you shouldn't sleep with the tv pointed at the bed if you leave it plugged in - red light of death. and cover the cameras on your devices.

are developing film?... or...? 🤭🎈

More candles?

Moar weed

stimulating, opposite effect

Blue light blocking glasses

Moar weed earlier in the day, not before bed

Weed disrupts REM sleep

Don't smoke before bed then

So why would weed during the day impact sleep? Maybe you connected with his mention of stress? Or this is mostly just anecdotal that works for you?

I'm not a doctor, I just know it works.

But also, it was a tongue in cheek answer.

Fair. Neither am I. But I like to study neurobiology via podcasts. Stress impacts cortisol which impacts sleep so you might be onto something ⚡️

Weed energizes the hell out of me.

You have to wait for it to wear off before sleeping. Don't smoke before bed.

Consistent bedtime routine and sleep hour is huge for me. Also avoiding adrenaline inducing/non calming activities 1-2 hours prior to bed. Finishing Jiu Jitsu class late sometimes nixes this though 🤙🏼😂

yes indeed haha

Blackout curtains help me. If you’re sticking to a stricter schedule, I assume alarms are involved. So close when sleep time, open them as soon as you get up.

i use to have these, been enjoying no curtains tho, wake up with the light

That’s very fair. My wife is the same way - the natural wake up is much more respectful of the circadian rhythms

3-2-1 rule

3hrs before targeted bedtime, stop eating

2hrs, stop drinking

1 hr, stop looking at all screens

Get up earlier and your body will eventually acclimate.

I know its obvious but I do my best to tire myself out physically during the day. Another thing I started doing as a wind down is 5 minutes of stretching, 15 minutes of meditation, then read. Always leaves feeling good and ready to sleep.

o yea reading book is great wind down

head, face and shoulder massages helps me sleep better these days, esp the acupressure points, lymphatic drainage - there's another one called gates of consciousness acupressure points at the base of your skulls that's very relaxing.
