Same here, that is my usual jam too. Let’s get after it!

Be kind to yourself. 🫶 Good job jumping back in. Changing routines is tough work.

Can’t be too kind to myself 😅

lol facts 🤘🤣 all of us! you got this though - BALANCE

Pulling weights and fasting don’t really go together though!

As long as I eat after workouts and get my calorie count filled in my eating window it’s all good

It may even be beneficial to combine pulling weights and fasting. Keyword Growth hormones

16/8 works for most right? Why push it? I prefer 17/7 just because it feels better.

More time in fat burning stages allow for more..well fat burn and autophagy

24/1 is great too

OMAD lyfe

I'm planning to get back on the wagon tomorrow actually. 18/6 is great once you get used to it.

Been doing this for about a year. Less strictly lately since I've been lifting late at night and want some calories after. Basically just skipping breakfast at this point. 2 meals + 2 small snacks a day. More than anything, just avoiding junk and 2500 calorie Jimmy Johns meals has been smart. Down about 10 lbs while all my lifts are up 50%.

Well done!

Same. The bakeries here in Mexico City are just too tempting.

Get after it mate! Proof of work

Good job, have some sats for steak ⚡

Do it!!! Has done wonders for my physique and mental health 🙌🏽💜

Yeah, I function well on it 👌

I am on 20/4 for almost a year now. It feels great.

Cool. It really isn’t hard to do at all. I experimented with 23/1 too, and even that is fully doable.

true, I haven't done 23/1 for longer than 3 months straight, but it is very effective.

I think a lot of people would benefit greatly from giving their digestive system a regular rest. And to once again experience being a little hungry. Being hungry in the slightest throws most people into a low key panic lol

Autophagy for the win..⚡️💪⚡️

Energy levels are through the roof, I regularly do supplemented caloric restricted intermittent juice fasts for months in a row, 23.5h fast with 30m feeding window. I literally need do exhaust myself with 3-4h workouts a day, often even working out longer than I sleep :)

haha yeah most people dont even want to spend 5 minutes feeling hungry, although it is very beneficial for them in the long run. I have now timed my lifestyle in a way that I start my workout when I get pretty hungry. after 10 minutes into my workout, I forget all about my hunger. After my workout, I take a shower. After my shower, I am extremely hungry and I break my fast. I start with some fruit and then consume the bulk of my protein. If I am still hungry shortly before my eating window ends, I consume some carbs till satisfied. This has worked very well for me so far, and I can only recommend it 🐱

So you get the big majority of your calories in one meal?

yeah, I would say 70-90% of my calories in own meal , and then a second small meal in 2-3 hours. If I plan to go out with friends/family etc. I might only consume 40-50% of my calories before going out and eat out the rest.

*own = one

Are you concerned with muscle loss, bone loss and organ loss? I’ve done fasting and felt okay for a while and considering getting back to it.

I wonder if Cate Shanahan (pro keto/carnivore) is missing some data or if the n=1 “studies” are adequate.

https://drcate.com/fasting-for-weight-loss-what-does-the-science-say/

Not concerned about muscle or bone/organ loss as I still fill my daily calorie needs, just within a 6 hour window.

18/6 is hard. Do you train regularly? If yes, what? I find it difficult when doing strength training. Even more difficult not to eat being at home at the weekend, but that's on me 😄

I’ve been doing 18/6 for long periods, like year+. Don’t find it hard at all tbh. I do weight training 3-4 times a week plus some cardio

Its not hard. And feels rather beneficial. Energy is consistent. You enjoy food more. And no after lunch food coma.

The enjoying food more part is amazing. Also the rock solid blood sugar/energy levels

Yeah never measured them but absolutely shoudl be greatly improved when on intermittent fasting.

Blood sugar. The higher energy levels Ive noticed in first 3 days.

You are my hero 🫡

That’s funny.

Just posted the exact plan for tomorrow.

Just starting now basically 🫡😁

🤝

Is autophagy a thing? I heard on a podcast, that there are no human studies. Just studies in mice. Anyway i enjoy 18/6 fasting 😉

I think it’s a thing

Yes. Simply reasoned I think a weakened or compromised cell or organism that is stressed or deprived of energy will tend to weaken to expiration quicker than the strong. Higher rates of autophagy make more sense for a 5 day fast than intermittent which may allow hangers on to survive whether or not one believes if studies of either are conclusive. A 5 day FMD is kind of a hybrid but one will feel day 3 and 4 effects in a noticeable way. FMD 3 times/yr has been a good trade off for strict I/F for 350 days/ yr ( or less). Just 2 sats worth.

This is the way. Changed my life completely starting 18/6. Been doing it for about a year now. I throw in 24-36 hour fasts about bi-weekly.

what is 18/6?

A day with 18 hour fast, 6 hour eating window

Done every day

Same.

But 20/4 for over a year now.

I've been doing 20:4 on weekends and 16:8 on weekdays. Been working great. Cutting til April then the bulking begins.

and how is the 6 hour eating? you eat non stop or how many meals?

I eat a couple of meals

Been doing the 16/4 for a couple weeks. Needed to get my diet / exercise routine back into check it’s been a big help. Was getting too fat. 209 to 204 today - another ~15 lbs to get to my target weight

16/4?

16/8 sorry math is hard 😂

😂🫂

It’s a thing of beauty.

It’s a really great tool. I am almost at 200 days in a row (16/8) and love the simplicity and focus it brings to the daily life.

Nice. Started about a month ago. 26/27 days on minimum 16/8, most were in the range of 18/6

Well done.
