Butter + flour + cream = best sauce π
uhm, hmm π€π€π€
White sauce. The base of everything.
Huh, never had it π€ Atleast knowingly
Add some shredded old cheddar and you have the BEST mac and cheese ever. Also killer on any veggie.
not sure iβve ever had cheddar, probably π€
never had any mac and cheese tho
(The list of things tanel hasn't tried)/β=?
Bro. WHAT
Gotta get you some mac. Stat.
sounds hella good tho ππ
Super delicious when made right with properly healthy ingredients like grass fed milk/butter, non-gmo pasta, etc.
aaaaaa, now I have mac and cheese FOMO π
Seriously, it's amazing. Use bacon fat instead of butter to make the white sauce and it becomes transcendental π€©
yβall seriously need to stop, this is cruel π
Fast forward to a future Nostr unconference where Ryan and I have a βCooking for Tanelβ booth.
I need this π
Wasabi? Idk if that classifies as a sauce tho
Red sauce(tomato) π
Beef au jus
Chick Fil A sauce. It's kinda like honey mustard mixed with light bbq
Green Cholula
Old Bay hot sauce FTW πΆοΈ
π₯π₯π₯

uh oh, this picture on itβs own is making my tummy rumble π
Canβt have that every day but in small quantities itβs good.
i need to make it a website.
a bucket list of everything i havenβt tried and want to do on the left, and on the right it would be the done things with like date, location and experience itself.
Whenever I make lentil soup I add like 2 drops to a serving. Really enhances the flavor. You can definitely overdo it though π

Don Hertzfeldt is the fucking best. π
never heard of this before, lemme give it a watch in a minute π
Once he created the weirdest Simpsonβs intro of all time.
Itβs getting hot in here
Thatβs a good one. Even though I hate to say it but might have to be ranch.
Never had ranch, what is it like? π€
Honey Mustard. Or mac sauce lol π
Fermented siracha π
Never had sriracha before, but it does sound interesting π€
Sambal Oelek (chili garlic sauce) is better than Sriracha and Iβll fight anyone.

#basic bβ¦ ranch π
what is ranch? π€
Also delicious. Kinda "basic" but still good. Dip your pizza crust in it, authentic fat guy North American diet!
https://www.ricardocuisine.com/en/recipes/8399-ranch-dressing
Wait, people dip their pizza in sauce?
i am confusion
Yes. Marinara, ranch, whatever you want. I prefer a nice butter garlic white sauce, like you would put on Fettuccine Alfredo. Mmmm, delicious crust coated in fat ππ
Never had any of those sauces before that you mentioned π€
Iβd be obese in the US, I swear
Learn to cook well while young, you will never regret it π«π€
Congrats btw π
Thank you, it is literally the most important task I have ever completed. It pays me dividends every day πͺππ€
Just don't get a job cooking because you'll likely regret it.
how so?
Working in restaurant kitchens is a hellish firestorm of a job. It's hot, knives everywhere, and it is hectic and stressful. Don't recommend π
I've been cooking since the mid 90s.
I've never made over 35k / year even as manager.
Meanwhile I have friends that over 150k (I'm happy for them and only blame myself for my $ issues)
The pros of cooking are that you'll never go hungry and you'll be able to keep your head above water.
The cons are that you'll likely ruin relationships, work 50+ hours a week, never have weekends or holidays off and will be eternally stressed out.
Alcoholism and drug use among cooks is rampant.
I believe that cooking is a skill that everyone should learn and can save you thousands of dollars over your lifetime. Yet it's a thankless (and addictive) job.
iβve always wanted to work as a chef, or atleast complete a course in it.
probably the best skill you could have, and iβd say one of the sexiest π
You don't need a degree. Just a willingness to learn. And a sense of urgency.
Almost all "chefs" that I've worked with weren't worth the pot to piss in.
might consider it actually ππ€
You also need thick skin.
Watch "the Bear" and "Waiting".
I do not recommend you work in a kitchen for vert long. It's not a good career path. I do recommend it if you have a plan to get the f out as soon as you've learned what you need.
Oh perfect, I like cooking shows π
Yeah, Iβd just love to learn some strong fundamentals and gtfo
Here's what I served today for lunch

oh damn, looks really nice π howβs the work been to you as of late?
I'm an old man doing a young man's job. I'm burned out. I have a masochistic love hate relationship with the restaurant biz
anything youβd like to do instead at this point? π€
Right now all I need to do is sell my property in CA. My bills here in MO are less than 1k / month. So I can put up with a couple of days a week.
I'd love to crack the work from home thing. I just haven't figured out out yet
You could potentially startd doing some cooking videos from home, Iβd love to watch them π Maybe some cooking courses also
Look at my website, that's what I'd really like to do, homesteading.
maybe nostr:npub1g3827ewz6d23rlgdhkaslc78gyule52ymcqdyt2hsxdwtlw8dt5q7dfpvg could help you out with that π
Sugar + grains +processed food everywhere. Cut them out/keep them to a minimum and things get better. Obesity is not necessarily a thing from overeating, but actually eating (processed) foods that are empty in nutrients which then leads to wanting to eat more
For once, I share your confusion
swear this is an American only thing
no, come to poland and enjoy the white creamy garlic stuff
aaaaa, this sounds so good. love garlic so much
Garlic everything
i used to have a bunch of garlicoin back in the

yesss!!! Garlic sauce! My fav! to french fries! omomom
What?!? Never heard of this. Not a European thing
Pizza is really just a vessel for ranch dip according to Mr E lol. Weβve clearly failed as parents π
Interesting fact about Hidden Valley Ranch. When first formulated it was clear with black pebbles of pepper. They add titanium dioxide to make it white. I only know this because I knew the field food chemist who led the product development.
Is it originated from the US? π€ Learning history about ranch today it seems like
It used to be white because it was made with cream. Then big corporate production requires profit margins, so it isnβt food anymore.
huh, isnβt food anymore? what are yβall eating over there? processed play-doh and coca cola?
One more, this is for when I make asian dishes.

so many lives could be saved if there only was more garlic.
i swear garlic could fix mental health issues by how good it tastes
prolly Chick-fil-A sauce
never had it, but quite a lot of people have mentioned it here also π
Maybe this one. But in any case it must be garlic!π€€ Yeah, Garlic! GARLIC!!!!

Yellow Mustard
Iβm mustarded.
why do people say yellow mustard and not just mustard?
In the US there are several different styles of mustard so maybe thatβs why?
It comes in various shades. A whole palette of mustard!
Hot sauce. Tabasco in particular.
never had either, but iβm curious on how iβd like it π€
Reckon it would struggle to fix FIAT. Totally agree with everything else though π
One of my favorites π:
Peanut butter
Garlic
Soy sauce
Maple syrup
Sesame oil
Sriracha
Truffle cream sauce, or spicy mayo, probably.
Or a red wine steak jusβ¦
or an au poivre sauce.
Or a lemon-butter-white wine sauce.
Damnit planet I donβt know π
I just love food so much
Or honey hots π€€
I was gonna say guacamole then realised it's a paste so I can still have that besides the sauce. Thus the sauce would be gravy... lots of gravy, all day, every day and Yorkshire pudding. Lots of those... obviously. π
Pistachios and almonds π
It costs a kidney and an eye but it's totally worth it.
Protein packed tok π

Or Gochujang. I could do either.
damn, would love to try some.
what do you usually have it with?
Itβs very common to cook with in Malaysia and Indonesia. But you can toss a little on anything for a kick of spice. They also make a version with extra π§.
ππ this sounds incredible already, wish i had some

Roasted salsa
β¦here we go ππ
#TanelHasnt
Bro whaat, ok recipe time:
10 tomatoes
5-10 jalapenos depending on spice tolerance
5 cloves of #garlic
Roast the on a grill or just in the oven until they're partially blackened. Oil helps keep them from sticking.
Put them in a food processor and pulse. You want to get all the chunks but not make a smooth sauce.
Enjoy with tortilla chips.
#foodstr #recipestr
We grew sugar rush peach peppers this year. They are great in salsa.

Garlic Parmesan sounds incredible nice, as I can imagine the taste of it, but I have no idea what Hollandaise sauce is π€
I could eat this every day. Of course Iβd probably die of a heart attack but Iβd live a happy life till the end.
it would just be a happy accident by that point. absolutely worth it, looks lovely π

Are we living off of only one sauce for the rest of our lives or we can eat only one sauce with other food?
nostr:npub1jaxs73m0zadd7fkwmkef73srdpfkxs6krwdhvkp0axzefqlsrpuqcvsjkt revealing her inner quantifying literalist. π
Iβm going with melted grass fed butter w/ fleur de sel
π
donβt think iβve heard of that before π€π€
fleur de sel?
itβs a hand harvest kind of sea salt.
the wikipedia entry is wrong.
itβs called βflower of saltβ because in the season where conditions are right for collecting the salt, violets bloom on the shores of the area it originally was harvested, which gave it a slight purple tinge, and slight taste of flowers.
another part missing from wikipedia is the βpaludiersβ (the salt gatherers) weβre traditionally women, because the work required patience and finesse, and the coastal French culture associated these traits as stronger in women.
Fleur de sel butter was my favorite part about living in France π₯²
How would you rate your experience living there? π€
sounds dreamy. π
then again, some time in Montreal with grass fed butter and local maple syrup doesnβt sound too bad π
Thank you so much for this ππ Really interesting history behind it also
Really good clarifying question actually π
The question was set up to get the answer to the second one βοΈ
Iβm here for this content.
High end, sugar-free sriracha.
Never tried sriracha in my life, but it seems to be a pretty popular choice π
Canβt say I care all too much for sauces, but Iβd probably choose tomato sauce. Need some good ol spaghetti.
moms spaghetti with tomato sauce hits different π

That looks next level narzty hot!! π πΆοΈ
If the hottest sauce you've ever had is Louisiana hot sauce and you thought that was pretty hot then yeah it's definitely next level. Maybe a couple next levels. But if you can stand the heat π₯΅ it's got good flavor. I love putting it on my eggs in the mornings. π

Chick-fil-A Sauce. Magic on all things potato.
Heard so many people pick that as their one sauce, never had it myself as Chick-fil-A ainβt a thing here π
Crystal
What sauce is Crystal? π€
Only get the regular kind. Garlic version is no good imo.
College trick: white rice, chicken boullion, crystal hot sauce.
