Sorry, I don't use Primal much apart from posting podcasts but I thought I would share some of the work we are doing here trying to fix Bedford.

Beyond starting a football club and owning local businesses, I have become active in trying to fix the endless issues in the town.

We have economic issues, in that businesses are under pressure from the economic climate as well as growing government red tape. This is being compounded by a massive rise in anti-social behaviour. We have a plague of addiction issues, with large numbers of crackheads, alcoholics and shoplifters in the town. We have a rise in crime, including assaults on women.

This is not a good situation.

Two months ago I threatened the police, that if they did not fix the issue then I will. During August I am funding a private security initiative in the town, where 10 security guards will be deployed across the town as scarecrows, providing a security blanket for residents and businesses.

We have met with the local police and our activity will be coordinated with them. We are also trying to work with the local council too. I am considering establishing a shadow council in the town, outside of party politics, driving civic action.

Alongside the private security, we are building teams for cleaning, events and marketing to drive economic activity in the town.

I just thought I would share this. Bitcoin world has become a little stale to me, it is time to get out there and do things. The UK is pretty fucked at the moment so it is fight or flight time.

Before getting too hyped on more prisons, consider you were also a drug addict once…

I think the main focus is the violence, not the drugs

Both the drugs and the violence are just symptoms.

The cause is what needs to be addressed.

The economic inequalities and lack of opportunities.

People's trauma needs to also be addressed.

You don't become a violent criminal or an opportunistic drug addict for no reason.

The society is what's sick. The cycle of abuse must be broken.

The way the state abuses it's people and allows the banks and corporations to abuse it's people is at the root of all this.

Solutions will take generations to implement because of the hindrance and pushback we get from the state.

The police and the courts aren't here to help us, they just maintain the current order and collect revenue on behalf of the state.

What's your point? Throw up your arms and give up?

My point is, in Peter’s future glorious Britain he could go to prison for a minor drug offence and his whole life would change significantly and instead of running multiple businesses, he could be in the street shouting at bins.

Been interesting watching him turn into a grumpy old man over the last 7 years. I guess money doesn’t buy you happiness…

Clearly this isn't what he's advocating

He’s been gleeful about prisons several times with guests lately, given the UK’s becoming an increasingly authoritarian state, it’s concerning.

It’s a complex situation and people inflicting violence should be dealt with appropriately but I don’t agree people should be locked up for drugs and minor social disorder offenses, which guests have clearly advocated for.

I am sympathetic to drug issues, I am not sympathetic to a small number of addicts destroying the town. I have read Schellenberger's book, and clearly there is a carrot for some and stick for others.

Carrot for you, stick for them?

They don't need a carrot, they need the opportunity to go out and pick their own carrots.

Societal drug issues are caused by poverty and trauma.

Giving people carrots should only be a temporary solution, otherwise they become dependent.

Hitting people with sticks only makes them more traumatized and likely to act out with more anti social behaviour and violence.

Peter is thinking like Bukele, just lock up anyone you don’t like. Lot of Bitcoiners have this mind set.

Yeah I’ve noticed. Gated communities, extra prisons, bad vibes. Woohoo.

It’s weird how many Americans are rushing to live there and don’t think that they could be next. Bizarre.

Good luck to you. Question: is it legal for the guards to be armed? I'm guessing no?šŸ˜€

Don't need to be armed.

Escalating violence isn't going to help the community anyway.

He's trying to improve his community not turn it into a warzone.

Great job Peter!

i think this is what bitcoiners will eventually do. Fix our local community, this will be the citadels.

Great to hear! Are you able to get buy in from other businesses in the town?

Well played, we need more of this across the UK šŸ¤™

All strength to you Peter. There's no question that government everywhere is little more than a costly hindrance to the life and wellbeing of communities. We have to to ignore and reject them, and get on with it ourselves.

Nice AI write up! lol jokes aside, this is awesome! YOU CAN JUST DO THINGS!

Have you thought about what would be your red line? Like when do you cut bait and leave? I admire what you’re doing but one man against all of society is nearly impossible.

Whatever opinion you want to have about Peter there is one thing you cannot deny. He has a red hot go at what he believes in.

Wishing him, Bedford and the UK well.

King Charles is pro fuckery for UK. Good luck on your endeavors and keep up the good fight.

My area has similar issues with drug and alcohol related crime, a large population of addicts with no economic opportunities.

Working in coordination with the police is going to prevent any meaningful impact.

Police typically run some kind of protection ratchet for some of the criminals, they'll allow a small group of drug dealers to operate and focus on busting their competitors and targeting low hanging fruit.

But security details and such are really only going after a symptom rather than treating the cause.

I hope it helps, but the work you put into the economy and community building will both have way more impact so I think that's where your focus should be.

Opportunities for people to pull themselves out of poverty, and social safety nets that help people survive without resorting to crime will have a much bigger impact than anything else.

If local residents trust you more than the police, the local police might try to disband you. Good luck

What's the law in UK for private guards ?

Where I'm from, if those barely touch someone they, basically, go to fail for life.

Meaning they are absolutiy useless exept as a punch bag for thieves.

awesome you’re taking the initiative 🫔

Prayers up for the security personnel you’re hiring. Since they aren’t police I’m guessing they can’t be armed with anything but a knife.

And getting in potential knife fights sounds horrendous

have heard of similar stories locally.. sounds bad. but respect for taking action. good luck

Do we have a vote option on NOSTR?

Should I try to emulate Peter in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight?

Ventnor is the 20th poorest town in the UK, I have managed to orange pill around 5 local businesses and around 10 people so far, but these are all at the wealthier end of the spectrum.

I have reached out to the "Better Days Cafe" who have ignored me so far and I have been unable to connect with the local food bank / parent support charity.

I believe starting a Bitcoin circular economy as well as helping businesses in the struggling hospitality sector start strategic reserves could transform the town, but I am also aware it will be hard work and many will be hostile or suspicious about my efforts.

Also, if I stay and move full time to Ventnor I will pay a huge personal cost both in terms of financial and civil liberties.

Thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you.

This is badass Peter. I am curious how the private security will work there as in the US we often consider private security "rent-a-cops" to be powerless.

I'll be very curious to hear how this experiment progresses if you're willing to continue posting about it. I am impressed by your dedication to your home town. I left mine due to state policies and taxes well beyond my influence.

Bitcoin is merely a means, a tool, to achieve your goal.

🫔

Wish you all the success and interested in how it goes

If you have roots in a local community this is a great approach

Great initiative! You should ask for some sort or tax reliefs (or something) so that money can be redirected into this venture. If police can not provide the service we are paying through taxes, then why should we pay it.

As bad as this is and sounds, it’s so encouraging to see Bitcoiners taking necessary positive actions everywhere in the face of risk.

Proof of courage is nice to see again.

A future where the new capital allocators are Bitcoiners but fulfill a civic duty of making their community better is what we dreamed we’d see.

Props to Peter.

Amazing what you are trying to accomplish. Kudos to you.

However living in Argentina I have seen time and time again isolated initiatives with the best intentions rise and fade away when the subsidies stop.

Bitcoin is not stale, it’s solving the core issue and that takes time…

Fix the Money, Fix the World

Private security force huh, that's the first step towards a fascist dictatorship. I wish you good luck, but don't lose yourself in the ecstasy of power.

Yeah, we all know of the disaster that happened when Hitler privatized the SS ...

I wish you the best. It will help while the money is getting fixed.

I’d like to say ā€œI did not seeā€ this coming but listening to your show it’s super obvious how far right you are. Heil Peter….

Fight or flight time indeed. Most of your compatriots are choosing the latter it seems.

Just having people as look outs and observers will go a long way. People behave differently when they know they're being watched. We should be more like eastern Europe with nosy old people who actually give AF about their community

good for you. your actions are commendable.

This is the way.

Bitcoin is stale?? Whaa

I salute you Peter. Becoming part of the solution !

I’m not saying security isn’t necessary, especially when there are real threats like physical assaults, but I also believe violence and force are the lowest forms of communication. Too often we ask, ā€œHow do we stop the crackheads, shoplifters, alcoholics?ā€ when the better question is, ā€œWhat systems allowed or even encouraged this behavior?ā€ Other people aren’t the enemy. The real fight is against the systems of injustice that shape their lives and ours.

Idk if you've heard his podcast - sounds like you haven't - but Peter has conversations about the system all the time. He asks those kinds of questions and I've never heard him describe drug addicts as "the enemy." He is not responsible for national policy or global trends and the systems at play are far outside of his control.

At the local level the actions he describes might actually help.

Pete’s a good dude. I’ve been listening to him since the early WBD days. The new pod’s decent. I don’t question his intentions, and I think it’s fair to say he’s not calling anyone ā€œthe enemy.ā€ He’s clearly doing a lot of good for his town. My only critique is the private security part. The only kind of security I can really get behind is when the community has buy in and skin in the game. When it’s just one person funding it, it starts to feel like a benevolent dictator situation.

Godspeed Peter

When municipalities are captive not only to the fiat induced incentive system but also the growth Ponzi scheme development pattern, you eventually get to a point where it becomes hard to obscure the challenges faced in a community as it has less flexibility to respond locally.

https://www.strongtowns.org/journal/2011/6/13/the-growth-ponzi-scheme-part-1.html

Just as finding Bitcoin opens your eyes, so does finding Strong Towns and understanding the development mess we have made for ourselves through the over-promising made by prior generations.

Can confirm I felt mildly sketched out the whole time I was in the Bedford town center. Glad you’re being proactive about it.

You’re a good man Charlie Brown. USA ā€˜peanuts’ cartoon reference. But for real. Kudos to you man. Well done. Thanks for doing the work!

Fair play.

What a doer!

You gonna have to start charging taxes though?

Peter,

This reminds me of the Guardian Angels from my youth in Vancouver, Canada — volunteer-based civilian patrols that focused on community relations and neighborhood presence. I believe they still exist in some form. Maybe something like that could complement your initiative?

I’ve really enjoyed Bedford over the past two years during the conference, and I admire the steps you’re taking. I hope your pilot project yields results and sparks even more ideas to revitalize and beautify the town.

Wishing you continued success!

I AM THE BITCOINER I AM TODAY IN PART AS A RESULT OF LISTENING TO WHAT BITCOIN DID…. THANK YOU SIR AND GOOD ON YOU…

Private security will never work. They have no teeth and the criminals will quickly figure that out. The only way to end these issues is to put these people in prison and keep them there

Turd polisher, Peter McCormack. How shiny can you get it?

Great work Peter, this is a great example for many more to follow… but still a big job to tackle to the social and societal breakdown that is causing this in many of our towns and cities.

Peter for Lord High Steward 2028

Actions speak louder than words. Way to go man.

Cool info an all but maybe stop supporting centralised X

Mate, there are fuck all people on Nostr. If you want to communicate to the masses you have to use X.

The comments on this post show me the numbers are enough. Nostr also represents an active core in a world that he says has become passive with Bitcoin.

If nostr:nprofile1qqs2auxkkgfgylem580xrztp8ek5sf83s86k0vfq2feuz6y4lkhskgcpr4mhxue69uhkummnw3ez6un9d3shjtn4de6x2argwghx6egfqyg8wumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnhd9hx2zp2vfs wanted to ā€˜fix the money, fix the world’ (more specifically, fix Bedford) and use his online presence to assist, using Nostr only would be dumbest decision he could make.

Nostr has approximately ~20,000 daily active users. Most of these users are in the USA.

How many people from Bedford actively use Nostr each day?

1 person?

3 people?

20 max?

If you are someone like nostr:nprofile1qqsqfjg4mth7uwp307nng3z2em3ep2pxnljczzezg8j7dhf58ha7ejgpr9mhxue69uhhxetwv35hgtnwdaekvmrpwfjjucm0d5q3vamnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwwpexjmtpdshxuet5mm8xr7 being Nostr only works. His core audience IS every person on Nostr - Bitcoin phreaks and plebz internationally.

Pete is trying to fix a town in the UK where no one uses Nostr.

For everyone else trying to communicate a message to the masses being Nostr only is fucking retarded. You are quite literally preaching to the choir in one of the most potent echo chambers on earth.

I see Peter as one of the most pragmatic voices to come through Bitcoin. He knows Nostr is not mega-scale mainstream. You clearly do as well but here we are. I'm not even sure we can talk about Nostr-only on X. Ultimately, audience size doesn't mean anything if the people you're trying to reach aren't there. He's come to the right place to address raise this "People fixes this" point.

Audience size means everything.

Peter is taking a hands on approach to remedying the issues of his hometown Bedford. The best way for him to drum up support for his grand solution is to use Facebook, IG, LinkedIN and X. Using Nostr only is like taking a butter knife to a machine gun fight in Peter’s case.

nostr:nprofile1qqs2auxkkgfgylem580xrztp8ek5sf83s86k0vfq2feuz6y4lkhskgcpzdmhxue69uhhyetvv9ukzcnvv5hx7un8qyf8wumn8ghj7mmxve3ksctfdch8qatzk46mk3 note about ā€˜taking up the fight against the establishment’ got everyone riled up because it tugs on the heart strings of the boys and men within the Bitcoin / NOSTR echo chamber. Pete speaks about:

- Seizing control

- Taking law and order into your own hands

- Running a shadow government

- Financing it all through stacking stats

- Taking personal responsibility

- Leveraging the Bitcoin males saviour complex

- Sticking it to the proverbial man!

His note blew up because nostr:nprofile1qqs2auxkkgfgylem580xrztp8ek5sf83s86k0vfq2feuz6y4lkhskgcpzdmhxue69uhhyetvv9ukzcnvv5hx7un8qyf8wumn8ghj7mmxve3ksctfdch8qatzk46mk3 successfully tapped into the collective Nostr / Bitcoiner wet dream themes that permeate through this ultra niche microcosm.

If you want to lead a revolution you need to preach to the whole parish not just the choir.

Be the change

Stay humble stack sats

Be the change

If you build it they will come

#copium

Hey Peter — thank you for sharing this. I don’t post much either, but reading this really struck a chord. It’s clear you care deeply about your community, and you’re taking real action. That deserves respect.

What you’re describing — the chaos, addiction, and institutional breakdown — it’s the entropy rising. And I totally get that ā€œfight or flightā€ feeling.

I’ve been studying Tom Campbell’s My Big TOE, which looks at all of this through the lens of consciousness evolution. It suggests that our way out isn’t just to fight decay with more force, but to lower entropy through connection, compassion, and constructive service.

What you’re building — beyond the security guards — sounds like a platform for civic re-imagination. I think that’s where the real power is: not just suppressing symptoms, but cultivating conditions for regeneration — economic, social, even spiritual.

You’ve taken responsibility in a way most wouldn’t. That’s leadership. And with the right energy — not fear or control, but grounded care — it can ripple far beyond Bedford.

Keep going, mate. You’re doing more than fixing a town — you’re rewriting the script.

Good to hear from you Peter. All the best fixing things over there

We are looking for an investor who can loan our holding company 237,000 US dollars.

With this money, we will open a farm in Baku, Azerbaijan to produce animal-based food.

We will also make our own animal feed, so our products will be healthier, better quality, and cheaper.

Because we sell quality products for less and have strong advertising, we will sell more worldwide and make big profits.

Why Azerbaijan? Because animal farming makes a lot of money there, but few people do it. That’s why we will earn more by starting in Azerbaijan.

Additionally, by producing our own animal feed, we will be able to sell healthier, higher quality animal products at a lower price.

Since we can sell quality products cheaply and thanks to our strong advertising network, we will be able to sell more internationally and make huge profits.

The reason for establishing the business in Azerbaijan is that animal husbandry is a very profitable business in Azerbaijan, but since there are very few people doing animal husbandry, establishing the farm in Azerbaijan will provide us with more income.

Your profit:

You will lend 237,000 US dollars to our holding company and when 22.03.2026 comes, you will receive your money back as 953,000 US dollars.

Your earnings will be great. When 22.03.2026 comes, you will get your money back as 953.00 US dollars.

Interested to hear how this is working out. We need more Peters BTW.

Thanks for doing this. I hope the experiment goes well.

" I am considering establishing a shadow council in the town, outside of party politics, driving civic action. "

For some reason I like this...😁

How about documentary about this so everyone could be inspired how it's done?

It's sounds cool and all, but seriously, since when has the solution to a town's crime and addiction problems been a brute force goon squad (no offence)? Also, how does this help reduce red tape? I'm confused.

You will come around

This is some Peaky Blinder level shit now

I listen to your podcast and didn't even know you were on here! You get a follow from me. Keep up the good work.

This is what private agency can do for a whole community.

The real question here is if they are actually going to let him do everything he has planned.

Politicians and public officials usually don’t like their failings and incompetence to be highlighted.
