Venerable John, a hermit of profound humility, dwelled in a cave near Prislop. One day, shepherds discovered him. Coveting his meager possessions, they slew him. Where he was slain, a spring gushed forth, a testament to his purity. The shepherds, seized by fear, fled, but the holy body remained untouched by decay, radiating light. Villagers found him and sought to move his relics, but the cart’s wheels became immovably stuck in the mud until they promised to build a church in his honor.
